PUBLIC TRA NSPORTATION IN DE NVE R
Denver has several public transportation options:
9
RTD Bus has over 10,000 stops in the metro area and will get you where you want to go quickly and at a
low rate. Jus t look for the red and white bus s top signs located every few blocks along Local b us routes and
wait on the curb for the bus to arrive. The bus offers Local, Express and Regional routes. You can ride locally
for $2.25, express for $4.00 and regional for $5.00. Make sure to inquire about discount fares if you are
over 65, disabled, or a s tudent between the ages of 6 and 19. C hildren under 5 ride free. If you are renting
a car, 74 of the RTD stops offer designated parking for riders where you can leave your car while you
venture off on the bus.
*Please note exact change is required when purchasing a bus ticket. C redit cards are not accepted.
Light Rail is a convenient and fast way to travel through Denver‘s central, southwest and southeast metro
areas. If you are interested in doing some shopping, a ttending a ballgame, or checking out the Denver
nightlife the RTD light rail is the way to go. Traveling on the light rail is a stress -free experience with fast
transportation and a ride free of traffic. The light rail runs regularly from 5:00am to 1:00am and has 37
stations. Like the RTD bus, the light rail offers Local ($2.25 one way), Express ($4.00 one way) and
Regional routes ($5.00 one way) which are determined by the number of zones you must travel through to
get to your destination. T he Light Rail system is divided into four zones. Traveling through on e or two zones
constitutes paying the local fare, three zones is the express fare, and four zones is the regional. Ticket
discounts are available for those 65 and older, disabled and students ages 6 to 19.
SkyRide will take you to and from Denver International Airport. Buses arrive every 15 minutes during peak
hours and drivers will assist you in loading and unloading your lug gage. Depending on your location,
SkyRide fares are $9.00, $11.00 or $13.00—an economical alternative to taking a taxi or car servic e. There

and 21st Street. However, there are a number of SkyRide bus stops located throughout downtown, southeast
and northeast Denver.
