46th Annual Raymond James Gasparilla Festival of the Arts Announces Winners
TAMPA, Fla. ― Selecting from a field of 250 acclaimed artists, juror Brian J. Lang, Curator of the
Corporate Art Collection at BNY Mellon, has selected the recipients of the 46th Annual Raymond James
Gasparilla Festival of the Arts cash awards, totaling $75,000.
“I chose the winners based on the idea that the entire body of work on display was impressive. I wasn’t
necessarily selecting a single piece of art at a time, rather in the context of the body of work shown by
the artist.”

About Brian J. Lang
The Gasparilla Festival of the Arts is pleased to announce the 46th Annual Festival’s juror, Brian J.
Lang. Brian is Curator of the Corporate Art Collection at BNY Mellon. The collection, which is housed
in BNY Mellon’s offices in multiple countries, spans four centuries of art including British watercolors
and drawings from the 18th to 20th centuries, 19th century American paintings, historic artifacts and
contemporary art. During his time at BNY Mellon, he has organized numerous loan exhibitions from the
collection and accompanying events with institutions including the Andy Warhol Museum, The Carnegie
Museum of Art, Tampa Museum of Art and the Tacoma Art Museum among others.

Current work has included expanding BNY Mellon’s collection of drawings by sculptors and
contemporary photography.
Prior to joining BNY Mellon in 1996, Brian worked with several contemporary art galleries, holding
positions in both sales and gallery management. He has also worked as an independent advisor and
curator, organizing exhibitions at both for-profit and nonprofit galleries. He serves on the board of
directors of Silver Eye Center for Photography and Citizens for Pennsylvania’s Future.
Brian is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where he studied Philosophy, Western European
Studies and French Language.
The Gasparilla Festival of the Arts is a 501 (c ) (3) non-profit corporation dedicated to producing an
annual, premier juried outdoor art festival for the enjoyment and education of patrons, artists and
guests as well as for the enhancement of the Tampa Bay area’s cultural arts. The non-profit
organization relies on support from sponsorships, on-site retail sales and corporate and individual gifts
to fund its programs and events. The Tampa-based organization is staffed entirely by volunteers. For
