Kristallnacht Project

Kristallnacht Project
Imagine you are a teenager living in 1938 who has recently witnessed the
events of Kristallnacht in your hometown.
For this project, you will need to describe and explain to other people
what it was like to experience the Kristallnacht. Basically, you want to
let people know about what happened during this historic event. You can
do this from the point of view of either a Jewish teenager(s) who saw
their neighborhoods destroyed or a German bystander(s) who watched it
happen.
You and your partner can choose one of the following formats:
1)
2)
3)
4)
a
a
a
a
letter to a friend (who lives outside of Germany)
series of diary entries
poem
2 panel illustration w/ thorough captions
The focus of your Kristallnacht “documentation” is
a) to provide the facts of this historical event,
b) to describe what “you” observed, and
c) to give “your” personal feelings about this event.
You will need to use the Kristallnacht section of your outline to include
facts and statistics (facts with numbers). Think about the discussions and
photos from class as you try to describe what “you” observed during the
event. Then, try to imagine yourself being there and explain your feelings
about the event you have just witnessed.
Your Kristallnacht project will be a TEST GRADE and is due on Wednesday,
December 21st. You will have several class periods to work on this IN
SCHOOL! The rubric for this project is on the back of this sheet. Make
sure to pay attention to the rubric as you work because it shows exactly
how you will be graded.
If you have any questions about the Kristallnacht project, make sure you
ask me so we can clear up any confusion and you can get the best grade
possible!
I look forward to seeing your final products = )
