Halifax Regional Municipality Provide Sportsfield Painting & Marking Services to HRM Owned All‐Weather Sportsfields The Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) would like to establish a three year standing offer to supply and deliver field maintenance (Painting) for the three all‐weather sport field facilities owned by the Municipality. The dates requiring service would run from April to October as per the requirements listed in the following description. Bidders to provide description on process and equipment they plan to utilize to perform each maintenance function. Locations and Sizes: 1. Halifax Mainland Common, 210 Thomas Raddall Drive, Halifax
Turf totalling 19,800 square yards (to be renovated in 2015, layout may change) made up of
two regulation soccer/rugby fields measuring 110 yards X 75 yards or four small fields for
soccer measuring 75 yards X 55 yards or one football field measuring 150 yards X 65 yards.
2. Harbour East, 261 Commodore Drive, Dartmouth
One field has a turf totalling 14, 110 yards made up of a football field measuring 150 yards X
65 yards or a soccer field measuring 110 yards X 75 yards or a field lacrosse field measuring
110 yards X 60 yards or two small soccer fields measuring 75 yards X 52 yards. The second
field has a turf totalling 10,200 square yards made up of a soccer field measuring 110 yards
X 75 yards or two small soccer fields measuring 75 yards X 52 yards.
3. Bedford Hammonds Plains, 202 Innovation Drive, Bedford
Turf totalling 12,640 yards made up of two regulation soccer / rugby fields measuring 110
yards X 70 yards or two small fields for soccer measuring 70 X 55 yards or one football field
measuring 150 yards X 65 yards.

field #1 2 soccer cross fields red May Successful bidder(s) to supply and use paint that will not damage any turf and is acceptable to the Facility Operations Coordinator. Dates and times for painting to be negotiated between successful bidder(s) and the Facility Operations Coordinator. Field markings and width of lines outlined in field dimensions are within ranges as noted in the playing rules of the individual sports. Some variations may occur due to a request of the facility user groups. If such cases occur, then the successful bidder(s), Facility Operations Coordinator and/or HRM Procurement will negotiate and confirm price prior to the start of any work. It is in the best interest of all parties if the bidders are in the business of sport field painting and marking. Field markings normally will confirm with the official rule books of each sport. However, some adjustments can be seen in the attached sketches. Prior to any painting actual layout should be confirmed with the Facility Operations Coordinator. Normal width of lines for the sports are: 1. Soccer lines are no more than 5 inches but range between 2 inches and 5 inches.
Additional requests such as for the sport of field lacrosse, rugby will be negotiated on an as need basis. Paint suppliers: Both Field Turf and IC Improvement Inc. recommend a number of companies as suppliers for paint products that can be used on their turfs. Such names include Pioneer (1‐800‐877‐1204), ECO Chemical (1‐800‐677‐7930), World Class (1‐800‐748‐9649), and coating Specialities Group (1‐248‐299‐2607). There may be other companies that can supply the appropriate products that will not damage the turf or jeopardize the warranties. The contractor(s) should receive product approval prior to submitting any bid and/or prior to any painting of the turfs. The successful bidder(s) will need final approval from the Facility Operations Coordinator of each site prior to the commencement of any work. Equipment: (1)Successful bidder(s) is/are responsible to repair any damages to the artificial/all‐weather turf/field to the satisfaction of the Facility Operations Coordinator. (2)Pneumatic rubber tires or acceptable facsimile are the only type of tires to be used on the turf/field if any painting related equipment has to be used during this function. (3)Any equipment to be used by the successful bidder(s) must receive prior approval from the appropriate Facility Operations Coordinator before commencement of any work. Such equipment will not cause any damage to the artificial/all‐weather turf/field. Insurance: Successful bidder(s) must provide coverages acceptable to HRM/Procurement prior to performing any maintenance function. Coverages to include: ‐
