(Sat, 7 May)

After the meet and greet your adventure will start and you will be lead to Waterberg ( ca 2 hours drive).
The Waterberg Region incorporates the Waterberg Plateau National Park and the farming districts from

Overnight: Waterberg Region – Okonjima Nature Reserve
Halfway between Windhoek and Etosha lies the well-known Okonjima Nature Reserve. The 22 000 ha
Nature Reserve is surrounded by 96 km of fence and was finally completed in 2010. Okonjima is home to
AFRICAT, a Carnivore Conservation, which gives the captive carnivores a second chance to be released
back into the wild and to take the time it needs, to become a completely independent hunter - in a protected
area right in the middle of commercial farmland! Also in the Reserve is a 2000 ha 'safe' zone around Plains
Camp, Bush Camp, Bush Suite, the Omboroko Campsite as well as the PAWS Environmental Education
Centre.

The NEW, Plains Camp design honours the Okonjima cattle-farming history. In the early 1920’s, Okonjima
became a cattle farm and was bought by Val (VJ) & Rose Hanssen in 1970. They were well-established
Brahman breeders and continued to farm cattle until the need for solutions to increasing livestock losses
became pertinent and post-independence interest in Namibia as a tourist destination, escalated. In 1993, the
herds of Brahman and Jersey cattle were sold, changing the face of Okonjima as well as that of Carnivore
Conservation! STANDARD ROOMS:
Each of the 14 Standard Rooms enjoy a view across the Okonjima grass plains!
VIEW ROOMS:
The 10 exclusive and spacious View Rooms, all have a view across the Okonjima grass plains!
The OKONJIMA activities include tracking rehabilitated carnivores on foot; visiting the AfriCat Carnivore
Care & Information Centre; tracking leopards from a game–viewing vehicle. OKONJIMA also offers a
guided Bushman Trail.

Conservation Fund
The Conservation Fund was founded in 1990 by Dr. Laurie Marker. CCF's mission is to be an internationally recognised centre of excellence in research and education on cheetahs and their eco-systems, working with all stakeholders to achieve best practice in the conservation and management of the world's cheetahs. As Namibia has the largest and healthiest population of cheetahs left in the world, CCF's International Research and Education Centre is based in Namibia, near Otjiwarongo. The large modern Education Centre houses a museum that provides visitors and students the opportunity to learn more about the behaviour and biology of the cheetah, and the Namibian ecosystem that supports Africa's most endangered cat species. The excellent graphics and interactive displays in the centre bring the visitor through the history of the cheetah from pre-history to

Day 2&3: Etosha National Park (Sun, 8 May and Mon, 9 May)
Etosha National Park
The Etosha National Park is Namibia's premiere game viewing experience, situated in the northwest of
Namibia and is an area well known for its wildlife. Vegetation ranges from dense bush to open plains
attracting a diversity of wildlife. In the heart of the Park is The Etosha Pan - a shallow depression that covers
an area of 5000sq kilometres. Dry and shimmering for most of the year, the pans fill up with water after
good rains to a depth which is seldom deeper than 1m. In the dry season wildlife is attracted to perennial
springs and waterholes that makes for excellent game viewing.
Within the park are three large public rest camps catering for the more budget orientated traveller. There are
several smaller establishments on the outskirts of the park on private land offering a more intimate and
comprehensive experience. All of these establishments offer excellent value for money.
!
Overnight: Rest Camp
The rest camp is located 17 km from the southern entrance of the park, and famous for its flood-lit
waterhole, where visitors can observe at close quarters a spectacle of wildlife congregating and interacting.
Accommodation is provided to suit every need, in premier bush chalets overlooking the waterhole; bush
chalets and double rooms; or family chalets. Other facilities include a restaurant, bar, shop, swimming pool,
kiosk and camping facilities.

Day 4:
Mountain Camp, Damaraland
(Tue, 10 May)
Huge, untamed and ruggedly beautiful Damaraland is an exceptionally scenic landscape of open plains and
spectacular rock formations. The major attractions are Spitzkoppe, the Brandberg, Twyfelfontein, Vingerklip
and the Petrified Forest.
Overnight: Mountain Camp
The Mountain Camp has 5 safari tents, and a campsite that caters to a maximum of 12 people on the
campsite. There is a small restaurant, a sundowner terrace with a spectacular view and a small souvenir
shop.
The safari tents are built against the mountains and overlook the riverbed or the camp. Each tent has its own
parking place and lies at quite a distance from the neighboring tents. The restaurant is within walking
distance. Breakfast is included, but you are also more than welcome for lunch and dinner, or just a drink.
The campsite is spacious and lies at the riverbed. There are enough trees, so there is always shade and
privacy. There is a bush shower with only ‘cold’ water (heated by the sun) and a flush toilet. The restaurant
is within walking distance; here you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a drink. Each campsite has its
own fire place/BBQ area, so it is also possible to prepare your own meal. Be sure you take enough food with
you, there is no supermarket in the area.

Desert of Namib (Fri, 13 May)
Namib
The Namib is the world’s oldest desert, and although it stretches along the entire length of Namibia’s
coastline, the Namib commonly refers to the vast sea of sand from Luderitz to Swakopmund. For a big
sandy desert the scenery is remarkably varied, with the giant red dunes of Sossusvlei being the most famous
part.
Because of how old it is the Namib is home to numerous species that don’t occur elsewhere and although no
humans live in the desert an amazing array of flora and fauna manages to survive here. Famous species
include the Welwitschia – a living fossil plant, endemic chameleons, fur seals along the coast, brown hyenas,
jackals and remarkably one of Africa’s largest antelope the Gemsbok. The name Namib is of Nama origin
and means "vast place" and vast it certainly is.
