Tour through the Netherlands
6 April - 20 May
Toneelschuur Producties, the oldest production company in the Netherlands, presents “Het leven is droom” (La vida es sueño) by Spanish dramatist, poet and writer

Theatre de Nieuwe Regentes, The Hague
6 Abril
On 6 April 2017 Spanish saxophonist Perico Sambeat and the Dutch Rembrandt
Frerichs Trio will jointly perform at theatre De Nieuwe Regentes in The Hague.
Born in Valencia in 1962 Sambeat has become one of Spain’s great jazz musicians
and has been recognized internationally. He has received for example the North
Sea Jazz’s Bird Award in 2003. Sambeat has collaborated with renowned artists
such as Brad Mehldau, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Lee Konitz and Joe Chambers.
Throughout his career he has tried to link jazz and flamenco as can be seen, for

Pentecost by El Greco in De Nieuwe Kerk Amsterdam
Nieuwe Kerk, Amsterdam
18 February - 9 April
Thanks to a loan by Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid, De Nieuwe Kerk
Amsterdam will show Pentecost (Pentecostés) by El Greco (1541-1614). The
exhibition will be a multidimensional experience, including a reconstruction of
the original altarpiece for which the canvas was painted and the projection of
the documentary El Greco: an artist’s Odyssey.
El Greco’s particular style is characterized by mannerist, long and expressive
figures, and also by the use of strong colors. All of this can be seen in Pentecost,
masterpiece created between 1597 and 1600.
From 18 February to 9 April 2017 the painting will be on exhibit in the sixth
edition of “De Nieuwe Kerk’s Masterpiece series”. Since 2011, this project
features works of art so extraordinary that they are almost never loaned out,
because of their fragility or their status as beloved favorites. Many of the works
featured in the series have a religious or spiritual dimension. Thanks to this
initiative, in previous editions De Nieuwe Kerk Amsterdam displayed
Rembrandt’s The Holy Family or Andy Warhol’s The Last Supper.
More information can be found at the website of De Nieuwe Kerk Amsterdam.

Exhibition by painter Alberto Carrera Blecua
Art Singel 100, Amsterdam
8 - 30 April
From 8 to 30 April Gallery Art Singel 100 in Amsterdam will present the
exhibition “Goya”, with works by Spanish painter Alberto Carrera Blecua,

of the great artists that build up the material to give their paintings an existential background”. His work is charged with positive energy, alluding at
the same time to a tragic existential feeling. The schematized figuration in
a few strokes express symbolism and intensity.
Carrera Blecua studied Arts in Barcelona and exhibited for the first time at

Portugal, France, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, where he has been
exhibiting regularly at Art Singel 100 since 1999.
