ORTHOTICS

ORTHOTICS
Even if your feet don’t hurt, they may be contributing to overall postural imbalance. If pain or
discomfort occurs in a specific area of the body – anywhere from the feet to your neck – individually
designed functional orthotics may help bring long-term relief.
Low Back Pain
Back pain is a common symptom of an unbalanced foundation.
Having an unbalanced foundation can cause dysfunction of the joints
and muscles of the back, and can cause nerve root syndromes such as
herniated discs, spinal degeneration, and inflammation. Achieving a
balanced foundation may reduce this pain and dysfunction of the
lower back.
Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the thick connective tissue on
the bottom of the foot (plantar fascia) that helps maintain the arches
of the foot. The inflammation is due to tearing of the tissue. This
tearing can often be attributed to improper support of the plantar
vault. The soles of the feet are very painful, especially in the early
morning. The condition tends to be chronic and difficult to heal
without proper foot support.
Hip Pain
Hip pain is a common symptom of an unbalanced foundation. The hip's ball-and-socket joint is designed
to undergo repeated motion and allows for fluid movement. However, because of an unbalanced
foundation there can be added stress to the hip joint that can cause a dysfunction of the joint,
ligaments, bursas, and related muscles, which causes pain.
Knee Pain
The knee joint's main responsibilities include bending, straightening, and bearing the weight of the body
along with the hip, feet, and ankles. The knee is unique in the fact that it is capable of twisting and
rotating. And unbalanced foundation can cause the knee to not properly bear the weight of the body
and cause dysfunction of the ligaments, tendons, cartilage and muscles surrounding the joint, which also
causes pain and discomfort.
Ankle Pain
The ankle is one of the three main joints that are responsible for bearing the weight of the body, along
with the knee and hip joints. Ankle pain can be an indicator of an unbalanced foundation. An
unbalanced foundation can cause improper use of the ankle joint and can cause dysfunction of the ankle
joint, its ligaments, and its related muscles.
