MEET OUR STAFF Samantha Appleton is the Executive Manager Development for & Administration at the Shire of Morawa. Samantha grew up in Bunbury and moved to Morawa in September last year. We are busily working on updating our Manager. She has a degree in accounting Strategic Community Plan which will be circulated and is completing a degree in community development. She also has for community review in the upcoming weeks. This is obtained certificates in applied science and project management. An important document as it is the strategy and planning document that reflects Samantha is married to Robert and has an adult son, Hayden, who lives the longer term (10+ year) community and local government aspirations and in Northam. She loves to travel and manages to disappear a couple of times a year. Her favourite country so far is Vietnam. priorities. I will be taking leave starting this Friday 3rd June and will return on 28th June. The Shire of Morawa has been fortunate enough to employ Mr Stephen Tindale who will be the Acting CEO in my absence. Mr Tindale is suitably qualified and very experienced having worked in local government , including as the CEO at the City of Subiaco and Town of Cottesloe, for a number of years. The Mid West Basketball Carnival will be held on Saturday July 9th at the Mullewa Recreational Centre. Get your mates together and arrive by 9.30am. Team registration is $50 and open to Male and Female Teams. Teams Compete against teams from Yalgoo, Mullewa, Three Springs, Perenjori, Mingenew and Mt Magnet and go in the running for the Melissa Price Town Challenge shield which will be awarded to the winning team. KIDSPORT KidSport, a Department of Sport and Recreation funded program, allows WA youth to participate in physical activities, no matter matt their financial circumstances. Eligible youth aged 5-18 18 can apply for financial assistance to use towards their club fees. The KidSport system is i getting updated. In the not so distant future parents will no longer need to collect KidSport forms from their clubs/shires. Soon they will be able to fill out a form online. YOUTH CENTRE NEWS The Morawa Youth Centre has a new selection of games which are proving to be very popular. Pop in and check them out! FREE Teen Yoga is still on, If you're aged between 12 to 17 come on down to the Youth Centre from 4.30pm on Tuesdays to try it out. out Who said kids won’t eat healthy food? Wednesdays are packed at the Youth Centre as the kids line up to see what we’ll be cooking each week. We cook and a prepare food from healthy recipes while we talk about the nutritional benefits of the ingredients that we use. Last week was fruit salad, with natural yoghurt, cinnamon, honey and grated dark chocolate. YUMMO!!
