Conference: MIMUN 2017
On behalf of the MIMUN Secretariat we are happy to invite the students to participate in the 2017 Model UN. This will
not only be a great opportunity for them to improve their language skills, but also to gain invaluable skills in diplomacy
by being a delegate, a President of a committee or an expert. The next Model will be held on 16th - 21st April, 2017.
MIMUN is an international conference which is held by the United Nations Association of Russia in cooperation with
MGIMO-University and under the auspices of the World Federation of United Nations Associations. In the 2017 Model
there are going to be 12 committees, which will be using the six working languages of the UN. In 2016, 645 students from
45 countries, including Russia, participated in MIMUN, among them 134 foreign delegates. The Secretariat is directly in
charge of organizing the Model and consists mostly of MGIMO students.

The accommodation, meals and lectures are going to be held at Kosovo Academy for Public Safety. In this Summer
University we will present various levels of security, institutions, levels that must be understood by students and young
scholars, and receive briefing by best experts and guest speakers on the topics, mentioned in agenda.
The word ‘security’ is highly present in media, politics and daily conversations. But what does it actually mean? What
makes one feel secure? And, more importantly, how is security organized in order to improve it and what are effective
ways to deal with (violent) conflicts? In other words, in what ways is security governed?
This one-week program will give students an in-depth look into the ways in which thinking and speaking about security
have changed over time, and how stakeholders on various levels deal with conflicts and security, ranging from the
international arena to the state and from private security companies to communities and individuals.
Topics that will be discussed include:
• International security and new wars unconventional threats
• Responsibility to protect, National security in a globalizing world
• Private security companies
• Gated communities, and citizens’ initiatives in war situations

Students with different academic backgrounds and a general interest in Security, Euro-Atlantic integration, International
Relations, Diplomacy etc.. will benefit from each other in an intercultural and interdisciplinary learning process. Former
classes consisted of regular students and practitioners such as civil servants, communication experts, young politicians
and even parliamentary officials.
The course does not require special knowledge about security policies and institutions, European politics, law, history or
culture, but participants should be interested in more than just their field of specialization. In class participation, especially

University of Hradec Králové together with Malaysia Technical Scientist Association (MALTESAS) and Universiti
Teknologi Malaysia will collaborate to organize 2016 Advancement on Informatics, Business and Management
International Conference (ADIBUM) and 2016 Advanced Research on Circuits and Systems International
Conference (ARONCAS) in University of Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic from 20th to 22nd September, 2016, where

Clinton Global Initiative University
Clinton Global Initiative have officially launched the CGI U Innovation Fund Application . This new funding competition
aims to source, support, and feature the most effective, high-impact college student entrepreneurs and innovators
worldwide by providing critical, early-stage seed funding. Selected scholars will receive funding to advance projects that
fit CGI’s Commitments to Action model and an invitation to attend CGI U 2017 . The Innovation Fund is open
to any student 18 years of age or older currently enrolled in an institute of higher education (part-time or fulltime status).
Application Logistics: Prospective applicants can submit their project ideas in an online pre-application. The deadline
for pre-applications is 27th June 2016. Only pre-applicants whose projects best fit the selection criteria will be invited
to submit a full application in July 2016.

Academia Aestiva Internationalis Summer School
The Faculty of Social Sciences (University of Ljubljana) in partnership with the United Nations Association of Slovenia
has launched the Academia Aestiva Internationalis Summer School, entitled “Refugees and ‘refugees’: Challenge
for the World, not (just) for Europe”. The summer school will be attended by young activists aged between 18 and
30 years. The conference will be organized in Ljubljana between 27th June and 1st July 2016.
The conference will address current global issues concerning migrations. It will present lessons learnt from the
European refugee crisis, and reflect on the ‘management’ of the crisis, from both regional and global perspective.
The summer school will focus on historical, cultural, legal, political, and sociological aspects of the so-called ‘refugee
problem’. Interactive lectures, workshops anddebates will be carried out by professionals and experts with references
and expertise in related field of work.
There is no participation fee. The organizers will provide coffee breaks and free transportation around Ljubljana.
Unfortunately there are no scholarships for travelling expenses or accommodation available.
Young volunteers and activists are invited to apply. Deadline for application is 5th June 2016. The number of
participants is limited; applicants will be notified about the selection by 10th June 2016.

The Social Media Workshop (SMW) is an intensive two-day program designed to improve professional capabilities to
develop and implement successful social media campaigns. Through a balanced series of discussions and workshops,
it provides master level insight and knowledge necessary to develop strategies and tactics to enhance the ability to
efficiently communicate and influence the public opinions using social media outlets. The forum will provide a platform
for interaction and knowledge sharing and allow the participants to exchange experiences and effectively implement the

Summer School on Energy Security
The Department of International Relations and European Studies, Faculty of Social Studies, Masaryk University together
with their partners announce the summer school on energy security titled "The Energy Policy of the EU and Its Position
in Global Energy Environment".
The fifth year of this summer school, which already earned an excellent international reputation, takes place in the
UNESCO World Heritage City of Telč and will be dealing with highly topical issue of energy policy of the European
Union and EU position in the global energy environment.
The summer school will be held from 13th to 21st August, 2016 and will host various foreign and Czech energy security
experts. Among the lecturers there are James Henderson (Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, UK), Vaclav Bartuska
(Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Czech Republic), Petr Zavodsky (Director, Nuclear Power Plant Construction Department
of the Czech company CEZ, a.s.), Michael Kranhold (German Transmission System Operator 50Hertz Transmission
GmbH), Aleksandra Lis (Adam Mickiewicz University, Poland), and many others.
The summer school will last seven full working days, each dedicated to a specific topic within the issue. The core of the
programme comprises of issue-related lectures and practice-oriented workshops focusing on EU energy policy making
and implementation, relations with major energy producers, global trends in energy production and consumption, etc.
The programme also includes two day-long field trips.
1) A day-long extended field trip to the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant within which students will have a chance to visit the
power plant premises, a simulator of the reactor control room, engine room of the production unit and attend a lecture
of Mr. Petr Zavodsky, director of the Nuclear Power Plant Construction Department of the company CEZ, a.s., owner
of the power plant.
2) A day-long field trip to E.ON´s Vranov nad Dyjí Hydro Power Plant with guided tour through the facility, electric cars
presentation, and trip on electric bikes around the National Park Podyjí.
Students can earn 4 ECTS credits if all the requirements are fulfilled. The deadline for applications is 31st May, 2016.
