10TH GRADE CHECKLIST AND SUGGESTED ACTIVITIES Take Geometry or Algebra II, college prep English, and a language other than English. Visit the UC High School Course Planner to determine which classes fit within the A-G. If advised by UB staff take advanced placement courses. Try to earn A and B grades in all your classes. Studying hard in high school will help prepare you for college coursework. When calculating your GPA, colleges will look at 10th & 11th grade A-G courses. Update your High School Course Planner with the courses you complete in the 9th grade and those you are enrolled in the 10th grade. Focus on your class work and your homework to develop the study skills you will need to succeed in college. Attend tutoring for additional support on a regular basis. Work on meeting your academic goals set on your Personal Educational Plans. UB expectation is to have all students maintain a A-G weighted GPA of a 3.0 throughout the academic year. Take part in enrichment programs and continue to volunteer in your community. Take a Career Interest Inventory and talk over your results with your UB Advisor. Visit Westchester High School College Center to sign up for the PSAT (Preliminary SAT). This test will help you gauge your strengths and weaknesses on the new and redesigned SAT. Visit college campuses. Meet with your UB Advisor four times each semester.
