1. GENERAL
1.1 INTRODUCTION
The VBT Remote Buyer Module is the client application which is used by buyers to buy remotely on
the Belgian Simultaneous circuit. It will be referred to hereafter by the abbreviation RB (Remote
Buyer).
It makes no difference to the VBT Remote Buyer module which Internet provider is used.
It is also possible to log in several remoter buyers from the same public IP address.
The Remote Buyer module can be opened only once per PC (Windows user).
When a remote buyer licence is awarded to a user, the following options are available:
- The remote buyer can simply track the sale, i.e. track mode,or can effectively buy with the
system.
- The remoter buyer can hear the seller of a selected auction clock continuously,
i.e.continuous audio mode,or just when the sale is awarded to him.
1.2 PURPOSE OF THIS DOCUMENT
This document is an elementary guide to the use of the VBT remoter buyer software. It contains the
information for installing and working with the program with the standard options (VBT profile and
layouts).A second documentdescribes how to set the program to individual needs and preferences if
necessary.
1.3 INSTALLATION – QUICK START
Because a new Windowsprogram needs to be installed, the logged-in user must hold the full
associated rights. The language selection on installation plays no part.
After the VBT Remote Buyer module is installed and started up, the buyer first has to log in to the
system.
If communication is via a firewall, then ports TCP 21, 8003, 8004, 8005 and UDP 10001 and 10002
need to opened from/to the internet.
To do this, the following screen is opened:

After entering the LOGIN code and PINcode issued – which can also be blank–the remote
buyer application will contact the central remote buying system. If no valid connection is found,
the user will receive a clear message giving the reason why no connection could be made.
On this first remote buyermessage, the ACTIVATION code must be entered.
Once the connection has been established, checks will always be made into whether the application
installed is the most recent (compulsory) version. If not, the latest version will be installed. If the
upgrade is not compulsory, reactions can be different.
Below is the main screen with the following basic layout:
The window arrangement may be optimised depending on the screen resolution used.
Select at the top of the layout list the one that gives the best screen filling effect.
The choice made will be retained during subsequent startups.

Main clocks 1, 2 and 3: contain all the elements of a classic clock. Under the clock face is an
overview of the respective balances.
On installation, three main clocks are pictured (VBT profile& layouts).
One main clock can effectively be used for purchasing when a buyer is not centrally set in track
mode.
Each main clock has its own quick key, to enable users to buy. The default settings are

If no main clock is yet linked to an active auction clock, in other words, buying is not yet possible, then
,appears at the top and the stop symbol in the main clocks

If a remote buyer is set centrally in track mode, then this indication remains continuously.

The default setting on the system is that clocks which are active on start-up or become active later are
automatically linked in sequence to main clocks 1 to 3 inclusive, and then to secondary clocks 1 to 5
inclusive.
If a main clock is effectively linked to an auction clock, then the auction’s logo will appear and the
auction indication above the window.
If you want to buy on an auction clock which is linked to a secondary clock, then you need to swap that
for one of the main clocks.
You can do this by clicking in a secondary clock under the number 1, 2 or 3 to swap to main clocks 1,2
or 3.
In this way, the position of the main clocks can also be changed if you wish.

active main clock via

After a buying intention is made, this will be incorporated by the relevant auction clock into the
‘purchase award’ process.
If the buying intention is validated to you, then your buyer’s number will now appear in the buyer’s box.
The box is also green to indicate the award of the purchase.
The sound of the relevant seller is automatically switched through
another clock, this is interrupted.

If a transaction is received, this is shown directly in the ‘Transactions’ window.
Through the KOA system, messages can be sent to (a selection of) users.
