Property Based PM and Lodging Link

Property Based PM and Lodging Link
Revision 1.0
Comtrol Corporation
Physical Connections
There are two options offered to GSS devices and PMS for connecting to Lodging Link: Ethernet and serial. A UPD Ethernet
connection can be established via the Ethernet port on the Lodging Link box. A serial connection allows for standard baud
rate/data bits/stop bits configurations and connects to one of the 8 available serial ports on the Lodging Link box.
PMS Communications with Lodging Link
A PMS has two options for communicating with Lodging Link: 1) use Comtrol’s Lodging Link ActiveX control (OCX) which
handles all communications with the Lodging Link box; or, 2) implement UHLL in the PMS to communicate directly with the
Lodging Link box.
Monitoring
Users can monitor all data traffic within Lodging Link by connecting a COM port on a PC, notebook, etc. to the console port on
the Lodging Link box and running a standard application such as HyperTerminal. Data traffic may also be monitored via an
Ethernet connection by running Comtrol’s Link Monitor product.
Example Installation
In this installation, the PM is a property-based PM located at the same physical site as the GSS devices and the Lodging Link
box. Two of the GSS devices connected to Lodging Link use serial connections and the other two GSS devices connected to
Lodging Link use an Ethernet connection. The PM has opted to use Comtrol’s OCX with its software and allow the OCX to
handle communications with Lodging Link, via a serial connection.
