Strengths

3. Presentation of concepts in sequential order and following the schedule handed out along with the
syllabus at the beginning of the semester.
4. Instructor was very knowledgeable and you could tell very helpful outside of class.

7. Very clear, intelligent, and funny.
8. Dr. Singer is one of the best math teachers I’ve ever had. He does a great job of presenting difficult
material in an easy to understand way.

Weaknesses
1. Goes through things fast and doesn’t explain thoroughly, sometimes doesn’t explain why something
is the way it is.

4. Can go through examples very quickly where it is hard to follow and write notes at the same time.
Maybe slow things down so it is easier to comprehend.
5. Sometimes needs to explain steps skipped.
6. Slow down a bit and write down all steps – I would get lost as to how we got from step to step or why
because there were holes in my notes.

9. Toward the end of the semester you started to skip explanations in new topics which made it really
difficult to learn and follow along.

11. Four days a week it’s very difficult to adjust with other classes. It should be 2 hours 2 days.

Beneficial aspects of course:

4. The completely different concepts. Having two different and exciting classes (graph theory and

Suggestions for improving the course

3. Look over the tests and review sections that students struggled with, although this would depend on
class performance and may interfere with the amount of material to be covered in the semester.

Comments on the grading procedures and exams

3. Homework grading seemed pretty straightforward. If you did most of it, you got most of the points.
As far as exams go, using the square root of our raw score to find out total points is a very creative
standardization, although it helps out those that did poorly on the exam a lot more than those that did
very well. This might need to be addressed depending on whether or not this is the instructor’s true
intention by using this method.
