Dear Parents and Carers,
As we begin the new term, we would like to celebrate those pupils whose punctuality and attendance
have been exemplary in our first term.
There is a clear link between regular school attendance and school progress and achievement. Setting
good punctuality and attendance patterns from an early age will develop positive habits for later on in
life. Well done to the children mentioned below – keep it up!

Uniform reminder
At Pimlico Primary pupils wear the agreed school uniform to promote a sense of
belonging and identity. As the weather continues to become cooler, children are
expected to wear the correct school uniform- including school cardigan, jumper,
jacket, black school shoes and grey tights. Children should have a maximum of one
key ring on their bags to distinguish it from others.

E-SAFETY TIP OF THE MONTH
Do your children like to watch videos on YouTube?
You might want to consider downloading the ‘YouTube Kids’ app, available for iOS and Android devices.
YouTube kids is a free app designed to give parents more control over what children watch. You can also
set the app so that children can’t search, and can only choose from a pre-curated selection. The app also
removes social features like comments and the ability to upload videos; has a built-in timer to limit how
long children can use it; and blocks inappropriate search terms.
Remember, no app or filtering is a substitute for taking an interest in what your children get up to online.
Please make sure you talk to them about what they are doing online, and ensure that they know what to
do if they are worried or upset about anything which happens online.

Parent Representative Feedback
Many thanks to all parents who brought questions to their parent representatives to share with Miss Hayward
and Miss Burge in Term 1. Please see below a summary of some of the issues raised:

Last term you received a letter informing you of a proposal Local Authority have presented to the
trust about the development of Churchill Gardens Primary Academy and Pimlico Academy/Primary
sites. At this point there is no update to report, no decisions or new proposals have been made. If
any changes occure I can assure you I will write to you all immediately seeking your views.

If you would like an additional copy of RWI Book Band Colours and Expectations, mentioned in
Miss Webb’s phonics parent workshop, please enquire at the school office.

Please can all parents label all items of clothing, including shirts, skirts, trousers, tights, cardigans
and coats. This helps prevent any lost or wandering items.

Over the course of the year we will provide parents with information on our curriculum and how
you can support your children at home. We will communicate this via parent workshops, open
classes, homework, school and class newsletters.

If you require any new cardigans or coats, orders are taken through our school office. If we don’t
have your size in stock, we will place an order with our suppliers.

A scooter rack has been requested by some parents. Miss Hayward will investigate this possibility
with Future Academies Facilities Manager.
Parent representatives will be meeting every half term with a member of our leadership team. Please speak
to you relevant Parent Representative, regarding any questions or queries you have and wish to be discussed.

Pimlico Primary Cursive Font
As a school, we are expected to meet National Curriculum objectives and we encourage our children to
take pride in the presentation of their work. A part of this involves teaching them to write in an accurate
and beautiful handwriting script. It is important that the children become so familiar with this method of
handwriting, that regardless of the subject or setting, they use this style with progressive ease.
To support your child at home, last term you were given ‘Continuous Cursive Handwriting Booklet’. We
suggest that you work through it with your child, at a suitable pace, being careful to ensure that each letter
is correctly formed. Below is a reminder of how we expect each letter and number to be formed.

Pimlico Primary Enrichment
Reception local walk
Reception went on an informative walk around the local area. They spotted sky scrapers, bridges, the river
and talked about at all the different types of housing that the could spot. The children listened carefully to
what sounds they could hear and compared different parts of
their journey.
Year 3 – Natural History Museum
Year 3 had a fantastic time exploring the Natural History Museum on their history trip. Pupils investigated
over three hundred real Museum specimens, which included everything from dinosaur fossils to rare
minerals. Pupils were real-life scientists carrying out their own scientific investigations, looking for
evidence, measuring, observing and recording their chosen specimen using microscopes, scales,
magnifying glasses and other exciting equipment. After that, Year 3 explored the Dinosaur Gallery; they
met the roaring T. rex and saw incredible fossils and models.
Year 1 - Science Museum
Durham and Cambridge classes visited the Science Museum to investigate at the Materials exhibition. The children
touched and described the properties of materials first hand, e.g. hard, smooth. The classes were amazed to walk
across a glass bridge without falling through! They discussed how the bridge could support the children’s weight
based on what materials it was made out of. Year 1 also explored the garden area in the Science Museum, where
the children played with water and explored different play areas that contained
lots of exciting equipment, such as bean bags, mirrors and pulleys and gears.
