Office 365 allows the employees and students of MCPSS to access many features and software programs from any device, through the cloud. The cloud‐based and download‐able versions of the applications include Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Publisher, Outlook and OneNote. Along with the applications, every user in the system receives unlimited cloud storage through OneDrive. The system’s Office 365 subscription gives access to the entire suite to every student and employee throughout the district.
Power BI: Power BI is an interactive data visualization tool that allows the creation of live dashboards displaying system data. Currently, the dashboards are displaying ACT Aspire and STAR data. Moodle: Moodle is a course management system designed to help create effective online courses for educators and students alike. Moodle supports both blended learning and online learning courses. Edmodo: Edmodo is an educational website that takes the ideas of a social network and refines them, making it appropriate for a classroom. Using Edmodo, students and teachers can reach out to one another and connect by sharing ideas, problems, and helpful tips. Cognos Data Warehouse: Cognos Data Warehouse is a business intelligence and performance management software that allows for extracting, analyzing and reporting data. Everything from student grades, to attendance and discipline is stored and analyzed here. Chalkable: Chalkable is a classroom management tool as well as the student information system in which attendance records, grading, discipline, schedules and all student information are stored. Kronos: Kronos is a workforce management software that assists with time and attendance, payroll and absence reporting. School Dude: School Dude is a maintenance and facilities management software for k‐12 school systems designed to manage facility scheduling, capital planning and transportation management AESOP: AESOP is a recruiting, hiring, absence, time and professional growth management software that is used to manage employee absences and time. Employee Self Service: Employee Self Service is a software that allows employees to take care of many different human resources‐related and job‐related tasks that would otherwise need to be completed by human resources personnel. Employee Self Service allows employees to change personal information, view payroll information and documents.
SMART Boards/Software: A SMART Board is an interactive whiteboard and that comes with a collaborative learning software used throughout the system for teaching, training and presentations. BYOD: Bring Your Own Device is an initiative adopted by the system that allows for increasing the access of technology without the cost of purchasing a device for each student. BYOD costs less and allows students to use technology with which they are already familiar, thus creating an environment for technology‐infused learning. SMART Slates: A Slate is a device that connects wirelessly through Bluetooth to a SMARTBoard allowing for interaction with digital content from anywhere in the classroom. A student or teacher can wirelessly control applications, write on the SMARTBoard and see their work in real‐time on the SMARTBoard. Document Cameras: A document camera is a visual presenter capable of real‐time image capture allowing the display of an object to a large audience. The camera is able to magnify and project the images of actual three‐ dimensional objects. Collaboration Room: A Collaboration Room is a multi‐functional room that exists for students and teachers allowing for team based learning, project based learning, and teacher professional development. Development of workspaces in school libraries: Workspaces in school libraries are designed to be an extension of the classroom allowing for collaboration and communication among students and teachers. Renaissance Learning: Renaissance Learning is an educational assessment software that includes Accelerated Reader, STAR Reading, STAR Early Literacy, Accelerated Math and STAR Math. The program is used to access a student’s reading and math levels as well as provide information to teachers about reading rates, literacy and math skills. DiscoveryED: Discovery Education provides high quality and dynamic digital content along with interactive lessons, real‐time assessments and virtual experiences. Learning.com: Learning.com makes it easy to teach students the critical digital literacy skills they need to succeed on online assessments, college and in their careers. Courses practicing online assessments, keyboarding, internet safety and coding are available.
