Denitrification Treatment System − Removal of Nitrate Nitrogen

Denitrification Treatment System
− Removal of Nitrate Nitrogen −
What is Denitrification?
Denitrification is a biological method for treating wastewater.
It treats wastewater by using a process in which microorganisms convert
nitrate nitrogen to nitrogen gas.
NO3-N (Nitrate Nitrogen)
N2 (Nitrogen Gas)
NO2-N (Nitrite Nitrogen) (Microorganisms)
Wastewater Standard
The standard for the amount of nitrogen contained in wastewater is 120 mg/L
(daily average of 60 mg/L) across the board.
Tokyo Bay, Ise Bay, and the Inland Sea have additional regulations, and
nitrogen regulations are becoming increasingly stricter year after year.
Deteriorating Quality of Tap Water
The current standard for the nitrogen amount in tap water is 10 mg/L.
If you keep drinking tap water with a higher rate of concentration, it may cause
cancer, impaired reproductive function, and death by methemoglobin disease
(hypoxia, especially in infants).
Eutrophication of Closed Waters
In closed waters such as Tokyo Bay, Ise Bay, the Inland Sea, and lakes, mass
outbreaks of microorganisms such as red tides, blue tides, and water-bloom
brought on by the accumulation of nitrate nitrogen have been deteriorating
water quality, presenting a problem.
Removal of unnecessary nitrate nitrogen
is essential from the standpoint of the
future environment, protection of our
health, and integrity.
Product Features
• Conservation of Space
The space required for installation is 1/2 to 1/10 of the traditional systems.
• Easy Maintenance
Uses an immobilized carrier method. No need to send back mud, making maintenance hassle-free.
• Low Running Cost
The amount of consumption of the carrier is only about 10% per year.
The amount of methanol addition is low and very little mud is generated, making the running cost low.
• A Wide Variety of Applications and Strong Resistance to Load Change
The immobilized carrier can be charged 40% of the reactor capacity.
Treatment can be done at a high concentration level, and endures load change. Treatment is stable.
Carrier Features
• Treatment Capacity 2 to 3 Times Higher than Competitors’ Products
The carrier we developed ourselves has a wide specific surface area, and its
treatment capacity is 2 to 3 times higher than competitors’ products.
• Immobilizes Microbial Biomass Fast
Bioaffinity is high, immobilizing microbial biomass fast. Maintains the highly active
bacteria.
• Excellent Air and Water Permeability and Degassing with an Open Cell Foam
Structure
Air and water permeability is great, and the gas generated inside escapes easily.

Installation Condition / Cost
• Start-Up Period
About 30days until bacteria settles with the carrier (the period depends on the wastewater).
• Area for the System
Example: If nitrate nitrogen is 500 mg/L, and the amount of treatment is 75 m3/day…About 25 m2
• Initial Cost
An estimate is provided for each site.
• Running Cost
Example: To treat 75 m3/day of wastewater and 500 mg/L of nitrate nitrogen, 37,500 yen/day is the cost.
Procedures up to Installation
• The Need for Sample Test
Wastewater differs from site to site. Testing and confirmation are required in advance.
• Implementation of Sample Test
Required Amount: 4 L
Period: 3 weeks after confirmation of denitrification treatment
Test Cost: An estimate provided for each wastewater test (cost differs depending on analysis items).
Treatment water is outsourced for analysis of quality.
After issuing a measurement certificate, the data is used for system design and an estimate.
* Note: Please send the water after neutralization except for pH 5 to 8.
We cannot test or store any legally hazardous substances or pathogenic E. coli.
