We have been learning about the accomplishments of the explorers
Christopher Columbus, Christopher Newport, Juan Ponce de Leon, and
Jacques Cartier. Each student will be making a help wanted poster
pretending to be one of the explorers that we have discussed. Below are the
guidelines for the “Help Wanted Ad Project”.

Every explorer must have a great crew. First, you will research the explorer
you have chosen to be. Next, you will be making a poster-sized help wanted
ad to advertise for crew openings that will come available on your next
voyage. On your wanted ad poster describe and have the following:
 Picture of your chosen explorer (may be drawn or printed from
internet)
 A paragraph describing the explorer you have chosen to be
 Name, picture or illustration of the country that supports your
expeditions
 Location you will be exploring
 Paragraph explaining what you hope to find on your exploration
 A description of jobs that you have available on your ship

A description of how much money you are willing to pay each of your
workers

What I Want to Accomplish
Hello, I am Christopher
Columbus. I am the Captain and
great explorer of unknown lands
and untamed oceans.
I have been on many adventures
at sea. I am looking for a
hardworking crew that can help
me find a quicker sea route to
Asia.
With a good crew, we will be able to find a shorter route to Asia. We will bring
back spices and silk for our King and Queen.
The King of Spain has provided us with:

Each person will be paid 5 silver coins a
week.

on the ship.

1 Doctor
Cook: Cook 3 meals a day and clean all pots and
pans
Deckhands: Clean and maintain ship as ordered by
the captain.
Doctor: care for sick and injured as needed
