THE COUNTY OF SOMERSET (VARIOUS ROADS, WEST SOMERSET DISTRICT)
{TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2014
(WASHFORD CROSS)
SOMERSET COUNTY COUNCIL in exercise of its powers under Section 14 of the Road
Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended and after consultation with the Chief Officer of
Police in accordance with Part Ill of Schedule 9 of the Act of 1984 HEREBY MAKES THE
FOLLOWING ORDER:1 This Order shall come into operation on 24th day of November 2014 and shall remain in
force for eighteen months.

This Order is made to facilitate the construction of new a roundabout at Washford Cross
(at the point of the existing A39/B3190 junctions).

Save as provided in Article 4 of this Order, the following temporary traffic restrictions
are introduced:
A. NO WAITING 08.00-18.00- North Street, Williton (eastern carriageway) for the
entire extent of the existing limited waiting bays as detailed in Schedule 2;
B. NO WAITING AT ANY TIME- North Street, Williton (western carriageway) from
the northern boundary of property number 1 in a northerly direction to the southern
extent of property number 37, as detailed in Schedule 2;
C. NO WAITING AT ANY TIME- Fore Street, Williton (western carriageway), from
the northern extent of the existing limited waiting bay in a southerly direction for a
distance of 15 metres as detailed in Schedule 2;
D. NO WAITING AT ANYTIME- Shutgate Meadow, Williton (southern carriageway),
from its junction with B3191 North Road westwards for a distance of 58 metres as
detailed in Schedule 2.
E. PROHIBITION OF VEHICLES IN A SOUTHERLY DIRECTION- on various
lengths of road as detailed in Schedule 3;
F. 30MPH SPEED LIMIT on various lengths of road as detailed in Schedule 4;
G. PROHIBITION OF VEHICLES- B3190, from its junction with the A39 in a
northerly direction for a distance of 193 metres, as detailed in Schedule 5;
H. SUSPENSION OF 7.5 TONNE WEIGHT LIMIT- B3191 from its junction with
North Street/Donniford Road to its junction with B3190, as detailed in Schedule 6.
Lay-bys located on this length of road are not included in the suspension; a 7.5
tonne weight limit restriction will still apply.
4. Nothing in Article 3 of this Order shall apply to:
(i) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police officer in
uniform;
(ii) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works.
5. This Order shall be cited as The County of Somerset (Various Roads, West Somerset
Distict) (Temporary Traffic Restrictions) Order 2014 (Washford Cross).

From its junction with North Street/Doniford Road in a north
westerly direction to its junction with the B3190. A distance of
approximately 1,715 metres. Lay-bys located on this length of road
are not included in the suspension; a 7.5 tonne weight limit
restriction will still apply.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTE
83190 road closure, anti-clockwise diversion
Traffic travelling east along the A39 will take the following diversion:
At the junction of the A39/B3190 continue on the A39 heading east to Williton. At the first
roundabout in Williton turn left onto A39, Fore Street heading north. At the junction of A39,
Fore Street and B3191 North Street, turn left on to B3191, North Street heading north.
Continue north and turn left into B3191, North Road at the junction with Doniford Road
heading northwest. Continue along B3191 Five Bells to the junction with B3190 Washford
Hiii/Brendon Road. Diversion ends for traffic turning right and heading north towards
Watchet. For traffic heading south turn left and continue along B3190 Washford Hill to the
northern limit of the road closure and entrance to the Tropiquaria car park where the
diversion ends.
83190 road closure, clockwise diversion
Traffic from the northern limit of the road closure will head north along the B3190 Washford
Hill to the junction with B3191 Five Bells where they will turn right and head southeast along
B3191 Five Bells. Traffic travelling south along B3190 Brendon Road from the direction of
Watchet will turn left and head southeast along B3191 Five Bells. After turning into B3191
Five Bells continue southeast along B3191 North Road to the junction with B3191 North
Street and Doniford Road and continue right into B3191 North Street. Proceed southeast
along B3191 North Street to the junction with A39 Fore Street. Turn right on to A39 Fore
Street and continue south to the first rouhdabout and then turn right along A39 Bank Street
and continue west along A39 to the southern limit of road closure at the A39/B3190 junction
where the diversion ends.

For avoiding danger to persons, or other traffic using the road, or any other road, or for
preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.
