(BPC) Subcontractor: None Project Description Water meters are the cash registers of a water utility. Water meters that fail to accurately measure and report customer water consumption result in lost revenue for the water utility. The Challenge: The Work: The Benefits: While BPC was under a multi-year contract with WSSC, to supply residential and commercial water meters, WSSC discovered that approximately 6,000 meters installed in its residential customers’ homes were failing to accurately report water consumption. WSSC identified the meters’ physical locations. BPC’s meter manufacturer and WSSC agreed to a meter change-out project, and agreed that BPC would remove and replace all 6000 meters. BPC changed-out 6000 residential water meters located in 2 counties within the State of Maryland. BPC developed the software that supported the change-out. The software included integrated modules for customer account information, customer appointment scheduling, plumber scheduling, job ticket generation, meter inventory tracking and management, and standard and customizable report generation.
