ART ROOM NEWS FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2014-15
Remember to check out the
ART ROOM BLOG... the best
way to keep tabs on art
room news, and view photos
of Lafayette students and
their art in the art room. Link

We always begin the new
year remembering routines,
how to be safe in the art room,
anticipating the highlights for
each grade level, and
reviewing the ELEMENTS of
ART: line, shape, color, form,
space, value, texture. Next,
students layer on the ART
PRINCIPLES of emphasis,
movement, rhythm, balance,
and proportion.
All that takes on a deeper
relevance when we use art to
explore the classroom
curriculum, knowing that
learning visually and
kinesthetically makes for
learning that is remembered
and internalized.

JUST ONE OF MANY OPPORTUNITIES
LAFAYETTE ART
MUSEUM DISPLAYS

Each 5th grader has an opportunity to

from 12-1.
OPEN ART is a time for ALL LAFAYETTE

Lafayette art at our own
neighborhood market. In
addition, find rotating
displays all year long in the
Lafayette hallways!
STUDENTS to complete class projects, or
if they’re in 4th or 5th grade, to
explore new media on their own.
