on our BESISTA® 540 tension and compression rod systems.
Our optimised BESISTA® 540 designer rod systems offer, compared to other systems, an elegantly crafted, filigree design, a higher load-carrying capacity, greater safety, superior cost effectiveness, exceptionally straightforward handling, and patented safety and installation features.
Our tension rods are made of S540N, an extra-high-quality modified S460N with a guaranteed yield
strength of 540 N/mm². Another unique feature of BESISTA® are hot-dip galvanized rod threads
for sustainable construction. If “hot-dip galvanized“ is specified, the client is entitled to full-scale
hot-dip galvanizing, including hot-dip galvanized rod threads.
The handling of our rod systems is such that you need neither special assembly work, sealing and
encapsulation, nor time-consuming sales rep calls.

540 N/mm², is BESISTA standard and must be exclusively supplied by BESISTA International GmbH. Material combinations 4 and 5 contain the limit tensile forces of lower-strength tension rods, gusset plates and circular discs made of
standard steel grades, for cases where customers produce the tension rods themselves and purchase only the ETA®
approved rod anchors from BESISTA . The installation instructions must be adhered to in all cases.

Permanently hot-dip galvanized tension rods with a durable zinc coat on the rod threads are a speciality of BESISTA®. The quality of hotdip galvanized rod threads is far superior to brushed, sprayed or encapsulated black threads. The inspection hole in the rod anchors, which is
unique to BESISTA®, permits 100% inspection of the thread screw-in depth. Unlike with other systems, no cover sleeves are needed - see
drawings above.

Safety Features - Sustainability
The inspection hole in the rod anchors, which is unique to BESISTA®, permits 100%
inspection of the thread screw-in depth. Unlike with other systems, no cover sleeves are needed.
The specially designed, internal shape of the fork ends allows the BESISTA rod anchors to accommodate axial offsets of up to 2°. This prevents transverse stresses
and protects coatings - a major benefit during installation. (patented)
Filigree longitudinal ribs on the BESISTA rod anchors and smooth transitions from the
straps to the shaft guarantee perfect forming and casting while at the same time
serving as wrench flats.
BESISTA rod anchors are made of top-grade highly ductile spheroidal graphite
cast iron with guaranteed notched bar impact work at –20 °C. No crack-prone
steel casting.
Wrench flats both on the tension rods and on the BESISTA rod anchors permit
distortion-free tensioning.
Sustainability by using hot-dip galvanized system parts. If „hot-dip galvanized“ is
specified, the client is entitled to insist on hot-dip galvanized threads. The hot-dip
galvanized rod threads are unique to BESISTA®. With BESISTA®, no sealing or
encapsulation (which can lead to uncontrollable thread areas) is necessary. Winner of

Quality Features - Ecology
Highest quality standards thanks to expert in-house development and manufacture. Up to 45% material and energy savings through consistent optimisation.
BESISTA cross anchors are provided exclusively by BESISTA®. They allow contactfree crossing of tension rods and offer an elegantly crafted and sound structural
solution for intersections.
Also exclusively available from BESISTA® are the cost-effective intermediate sizes
M14, 18, 22, 33, 39, 45 and 68, providing 24 thread sizes from M8 to M76, with limit
tensile forces up to 2016 kN. The smaller increments save a lot of material.
Compression rod connections for compression rods made of steel or timber are
available in three different types.
Our compact, extra-light BESISTA pretensioning systems BVS-230kN and
BVS-500kN permit rapid, controlled pretensioning of the tension rods. With the
BVS-230, a tension of up to 230 kN can be applied by a single person in a few
minutes.
Very large adjustment lengths in the BESISTA rod anchors - at least three times
the rod diameter per rod - offer enormous benefits during installation.
Unlike sleeves with welded straps, the specially designed BESISTA suspension
rings allow the tension rods to be turned and tensioned at all times.
