ACES Snow Day Activities: Pick 2 to do each snow day! Snow Day 1 - How many words can you make out of the words “WINTER TIME” - Write 5 Math word problems with a winter or holiday theme. Make sure you use your Math keywords! Try to make one a multi-step problem! Make sure to solve them! - Write an acrostic poem for the word WINTER, SNOWMAN, VALENTINE, PRESIDENT, or SNOW DAY. Snow Day 2 - Draw a snowman noun sort. Label each part of the snowman person, place or thing. Sort the nouns from a story you’ve read! - Write a winter themed story! Use at least 6 figurative language aspects. - Blow bubbles outside! And while summer is typically the time to crack open a bottle of bubbles, there's a way to make them work in the winter. If it's cold enough outside (9-12 degrees Fahrenheit) you can make the bubbles freeze. The trick is to blow them up in the air so that they have time to freeze before hitting the ground or another surface. Write a journal entry about what you see! **Make sure an adult is with you** Snow Day 3 - Magic balloons!! Just inflate and tie up a balloon, then stick it outside and watch it deflate. Bring it back inside to warm up… write a paragraph on what you see happening inside! Why do you think it does this? - **Make sure you have an adult with you** - Make up a new sport for the Winter Olympics! Make sure you include who would participate, what they have to do to play, equipment needed, and rules! Draw a picture to go along with your instructions. - Write step-by-step instructions on how to make hot chocolate. Make sure you include every single step!
