Are you curious about Math Club? Well, it`s all about playing math

Are you curious about Math Club? Well, it’s all about playing math games,
especially the Math Pentathlon games, and having a whole lot of fun while
you improve your math skills. You don’t have to be great at math. In fact,
the best players are the ones who think “outside the box.” You’ll develop
skills in manipulation, spatial relations, and strategic thinking, all things
that you can’t always learn by doing worksheets.
Math club is free! Starting September 19 math club will be held every
Monday from 3:50pm until 4:30pm in KidZone. The first week, September
19, is for students in kindergarten through second grade. The next week,
September 26, students in grades three through eight are invited. In the
grade three through eight math club, students will be grouped by ability so
that our older students will be challenged. The two math clubs (K-2nd, 3rd8th) will alternate weeks. Please check Mrs. VanDeven’s Fast Direct
calendar to know which group is meeting. You don’t need to commit to attending every time. Just come when you can
and be prepared to have fun.
Math Club is held in KidZone. After school, teachers will drop off students who have a math club permission slip on file.
If your child is a regular attender of math club and is not attending a session, please let the teacher know, especially as
our students will be escorted to math club before their class comes to the sidewalk. Anyone not picked up from KidZone
by 4:30 will be signed in to extended care.
Math Club is very popular! We need your help supervising kids, making sure they take turns, respect the games, and
follow the rules. If you stop in math club at 3:40pm, we’ll make sure you really know what you are doing! Helping at
math club does count towards service hours for those who must complete them. For everyone, we hope you are willing
to spend time assisting in this free, academic club. Volunteers do need to have a background check on file. If you are
willing to help, indicate below, and Mrs. Gaertner will be sure to send you the SignUp Genius link that lets you choose
which dates you can help.
Please return the permission slip at the bottom if your child(ren) would like to attend math club.

Please send me an email with a link to the math club SignUp Genius site. I can sign up for one opportunity or many
