Lynn Rinehart and Gerri Levine both became affiliated in different ways. Lynn Rinehart started her relationship with our organization in 2006 when she joined as a volunteer with her husband John. She especially enjoyed Macro Photography and created amazing images of the smallest flowers and details. Lynn will always be remembered as a caring and compassionate friend with a quick wit and smile. All of her fellow volunteers have fond memories of her and we will miss her dearly. Gerri Levine was an outstanding photographer who became associated with AHPW in recent years as a workshop participant. She had a true passion for photography that showed in her art. May 20-24 This workshop gets off to an amazing start as we will arrive in Monument Valley just in time to photograph the first annular solar eclipse of the 21st century. Positioned in the path of this rare meteorological event, Monument Valley will deliver a fantastic photographic opportunity that won't occur again until 2030. The following day we will travel with our Navajo outfitters up to Hunts Mesa, some 1,000 feet above the valley floor. It's commanding vantage point offers incredible views of the expansive landscape at sunrise and sunset. During this workshop you'll have the opportunity to photograph distinctive formations in Mystery Valley and other favorite locations such as Teardrop Arch, Ear of the Wind, Sun's Eye, Totem Pole and Yei Bichei rocks. Finally, you'll visit a traditional Navajo hogan where weavers pose at their looms as they create colorful rugs, and you may even see a Navajo herder driving sheep. Join Derek for this workshop that combines the tradition, culture and stark beauty of Navajoland.
