CAMSS30
REDUCE POWER CONSUMPTION BY HALF
CALIFORNIA MEDIUM SHELTER SYSTEM
ENERGY SAVING ACCESSORIES AVAILABLE
CHOICE OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY SERVICES
The California Medium Shelter System (CAMSS30) is the Official Medium Shelter System of the United States Air Force and is
an integral part of all BEAR Base Shelter Packages.
As well, the California Medium Shelter System is in use
with all branches of the United States Military including
Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps.
DEPLOYED AROUND THE WORLD
More than 2,000 California Medium Shelter Systems are deployed in locations around the world. Extreme climates such as
Balad, Iraq, Kandahar, Afghanistan, Kadena, Japan, Osan AB, Korea, Eilson AFB, Alaska and Djibouti. Field tested through
hurricanes, sand storms, high humidity, scorching heat and extreme cold. Field proven for more than a decade.
TESTING, TESTING AND MORE TESTING
The success of the California Medium Shelter System comes from extensive development through engineering and
Government laboratory testing.

CAMSS30 SOLARFLY
(P/N CAMSS30Q-SF-T) Tan
(P/N CAMSS30Q-SF-G) Green
The CAMSS Solarfly provides thermal protection
from intense sun, significantly reducing energy to
cool the shelter. The CAMSS30 Solarfly includes a
unique frame system that slides up and over the
frame and is tensioned down to the shelter. The
CAMSS30 Solarfly is unique because it does not
require additional framework to be anchored to
the ground and it creates a continuous air gap
throughout the length of the shelter. The
CAMSS30 Solarfly has been tested in extreme
heat and the testing shows a reduction in air
conditioning required of 17%. This reduction
significantly reduces power usage and demand on
generators for forward operating bases. Also
available with PV Solar Panels.
INSULCAM
TM
LINER SYSTEM
The CAMSS Insulcam insulating liner with Solarfly
was tested and proven to reduce the usage of the
ECU by half compared to the baseline system with
a basic liner. This translates to a significant savings
on energy consumption. With the Insulcam liner
system installed in deployed billeting shelters it
helps reduce the fuel requirements at forward
operating bases. We currently have our Insulcam
liner system deployed to forward operating bases
throughout Afghanistan.

phase distribution panel, outlets, vents, windows, four HVAC plenums with spot cooling, anchors, complexing connector,
spares kit, all tools necessary for erection, verified technical manual and the composite container it all fits into.
EASY TO SHIP AND FAST TO DEPLOY
The complete shelter system with all tools fits into one 463L
compatible container measuring 8’ x 7’ x 4’. The container is forkliftable
and stackable. It may be shipped by air, truck or ship. The complete
packed container weighs 4,000 pounds, though each individual part,
including the container, may be hand lifted.
The California Medium Shelter System erects in less than four hours with
six personnel. No special tools are required and all necessary tools are
included. Color coding, aluminum frame, interchangeable parts, and a
logical assembly sequence make the shelter easy to erect. System
includes verified technical manual with illustrations.

“The overall design and quality of the product continues to be outstanding.”
“(CAMSS30) design reduced the C-130 airlift burden by 66%; reduced set up time to 3-4 hrs from 15 hrs
normally required for previous shelter systems and met our temperature requirements in accordance with the
performance specifications.”
“The (CAMSS30) provides increased operational capabilities and flexibility for the war fighter in our time of need.”
APPLICATIONS
The California Medium Shelter System (CAMSS30) is deployed world wide
to extreme climates From -55 to 130 degrees Fahrenheit.
The California Medium Shelter is in use as command centers,
communication facilities, billeting, recreation centers, community centers,
transit centers, offices, custom processing, kitchens, dining rooms,
commissaries, house keeping, flight line support, maintenance shops,
warehousing, UAV hangars and fire engine houses.
