Parent/Guardian drop-off/pick-up times are the beginning and

revised June, 2014
1. DROP-OFF / PICKUP
Parent/Guardian drop-off/pick-up times are the beginning and ending times established for the
scheduled class. There is a 15-minute grace period during which children may be dropped off
prior to class and/or picked up after class without charge. A penalty fee of $1 per minute will be
charged for children dropped off or picked up beyond this grace period. If a child is dropped off
30 minutes or more prior to class or is not picked up by 30 minutes after class, and the
parent/guardian cannot be reached, CCE staff will phone the Palm Beach County Police
Department.
You will not be allowed to enter your child’s classroom, should you elect to wait for your child to
finish class. All visitors (parents, siblings, etc.) should wait in the main lobby as not to disturb any
of the classes.
2. ATTENDANCE
Parents/Guardians or other authorized adults are required to come into the building to sign their
child in and out of class. Only authorized persons, as indicated in the registration form will be
allowed to sign out a child from class. If someone other than an authorized person is picking up a
student, please, notify our staff in writing with the person’s name (at least 18-years old) and
contact information. At any time, CCE may require a photo ID from any person signing out a
child.
3. ABSENSES
Please call us if your child will not be attending on a specific day. If your child should be ill on a
class day, please document the illness with a signed note from a parent, legal guardian, or
doctor for the absence to be excused. Students may attend another session that week at the
discretion and permission of the instructor as a makeup session. However, no more than two
unexcused absences are allowed. Students and parents should plan accordingly to minimize the
number of absences. Please schedule your child’s weekly Discover Series classes into your
calendars.
4. TUITION
Tuition for the Discover Series is $900 for the year. There is no fee for the registration. Refunds
are offered 100% in full one week prior to the start of classes or at orientation. No refunds will be
offered after this time regardless to whether or not your child attends the entire program.
5. PAYMENT OPTIONS
Families have several options on tuition payments including full payment, recurring monthly
payments (paid by credit card on the 1st day of each month) or two equal installments of $450
each. Tuition may be paid in full one week before the start of classes. Tuition may be paid by
credit card, check, cash, or money order.
Any check returned for non-sufficient funds (NSF) will incur a processing fee of $30 in addition to
any fees charged by your financial institution. Please, make checks payable to the Center for
Creative Education.
6. CCE CANCELLATIONS
CCE will follow the Palm Beach County Public School District Calendar for all closings and
holidays. If school is dismissed or cancelled due to inclement weather, the Discover Series
classes is also cancelled for that day. All classes cancelled by CCE will be made up subject to
the instructor’s availability.
7. SCHOLARSHIP
Families financial need is determined on a yearly basis. Each year, you will need to complete a
scholarship request for your child. Documentation regarding free or reduced school lunches must
be submitted as well as annual tax returns. Families requesting scholarship assistance will be
notified in writing of the results within two weeks of receipt.
8. WITHDRAWALS
Students who withdraw from the Discover Series during the year are not eligible for a refund
unless it occurs one week prior to the start of classes (at orientation). If prior to a week before
the start of classes, a full 100% refund will be offered. No refunds will be given after this time.

death; central abuse hotline.—
(1)(a) Any person who knows, or has reasonable cause to suspect, that a child is abused,

child’s welfare, as defined in this chapter, shall report such knowledge or suspicion to the

childhood sexual abuse or the victim of a known or suspected juvenile sexual offender, as

12. INDIVIDUAL NEEDS
Families are encouraged to provide CCE staff with information regarding special considerations
for children with individual needs. Individual needs may include but not be limited to: physical
impairments, mental or cognitive impairments, behavioral impairments, chronic medical
conditions, and allergies. Our staff will consider this information along with every student’s
individual needs in planning activities/space with reasonable accommodations.
13. PHOTOGRAPHY WAIVER
By signing the CCE registration form, parents permit CCE or an acting agent to photograph,
video or interview their child for program purposes. Should individual children be identified by
name or quoted, a release will be requested for that specific instance.
14. MEDICAL TREATMENT
In the event of an emergency in which the parent, guardian, or emergency contact cannot be
reached, Emergency Medical Staff and CCE will take appropriate action in the best interest of
the child.
15. LOST ITEMS
CCE is not responsible for any personal items lost, misplaced, torn, stained, damaged or stolen
during CCE programs. You may want to consider dressing your child in old clothes for the art
classes.
16. DISCIPLINE
Students will be treated fairly and reasonably. Discipline will be based on careful evaluation of
the circumstances for each case. Factors that will be considered include the seriousness of the
offense, the student’s age, frequency of misbehavior and the student’s attitude.
Generally, CCE staff will employ “Personal Time” which is removal of child from a situation for up
to 5 minutes so they can regain control of their behavior. For more serious issues, there will be a
verbal or written communication to parent/guardian regarding a child’s behavior. Parents and/or
guardians will be notified of all necessary disciplinary procedures through notes, phone calls, and
conferences called by arts faculty or staff.
