Storytelling - Cinderella
Fairytales have happy endings. All of us know what happened in that mushy fairy tale,
Cinderella. Yeah, it’s romantic, the prince actually finding Cinderella. They lived happily ever
after. But happy endings can sometimes be boring. No zing, so predictable. What if the shoe
fit one of the sisters? What happens then? Play with your imagination here. Be funny if you like
or serious or be an Alfred Hitchcock. Whatever you are into share your new ending to the
Cinderella story.
Recount – A memorable day
Share with the class the most memorable day in your life and explain why.
Making Decisions
Share with the class one of the most difficult decisions you’ve made in your life. Remember to
explain why this decision was so difficult.
Persuading
Choose a topic which is meaningful to you and persuade the class to think and feel as you
do. Examples include: ‘Homework should be banned’, ‘There should be more PE and sport
based activities at school’ etc.
Cricket Talk
Play the role of a sports commentator. Describe the final over of a one-day cricket match
between Australia and New Zealand. Choose words that match the actions of the bowler
and batsman. For example, choose a phrase to describe the speed at which the ball is
bowled.
Improve Our Town
Help a local council decide on a development proposal. Determine whether the best use of
a demolition site in the centre of town will be for a park or for a mall. Research the positives
and negatives for both proposals. Reach a conclusion about what you think the community
wants. Build a presentation including examples of community opinions (fictional).
