Based on what you discovered about the weight of the two materials, do you think that the
soybean oil is less dense or denser than the soy sauce? [Hint: the volumes are equal, only the
weight is different.] Will the denser liquid float or sink?
3. Take the soy sauce and pour it into the cup containing the soybean oil. Describe what you
observe. What does this experiment show about the density of the two liquids?
4. Use a marker to draw a picture illustrating the oil and soy sauce in the glass. Label both parts
and describe the reaction taking place.
