In addition to Barbara St. Urbain,
coordinator of the Center for
International and Undocumented
Students, this spring we have 5 part-time
student workers: Carlos Barajas; Ernesto
Javalera; Essma Nasher; Japjit Kaur; and
Rebekah Bartle.
It is developed and communicated by a group of people, consciously or
unconsciously, to subsequent generations. It consists of beliefs, ideas,
habits, attitudes, customs, and traditions that help to create standards
from which a group of people coexist. It makes a group of people
unique.
The Center is open M-TH, 9am-4pm
REAL CULTURE: The way people actually behave.
IDEAL CULTURE: The way people believe they behave or ought to
behave.

Algeria is the largest country in Africa, its capital is Algiers

It is called the country of Cherries and Dates (mild
temperature in the north, Saharan temperature in the south),
and grows the best dates in the world, and is famous for Deglet
Nours

Over 80% of Algeria is the Saharan Region which is almost
completely uninhabited

The currency of Algeria is the Dinar, main exports include
petroleum and gas

The emblematic animal of Algeria is the Fennec

Women of the country have prominent status, making up 60%
of Judges and hospital employees, 70% of lawyers, 60% of the
student population, 34% of parliament, and have a bigger
household income contribution than their male counterparts

Couscous is so common a meal in Algeria that its Arabic name,
“ta’am” translates to “food.” A popular drink, laban consists of
yogurt, water and mint leaves for flavor

A custom of Oran, Algeria is to honk car horns when going
through the tunnel to the beach to bring good luck.
