January’s bold. January huffs and puffs. January’s cold. Daisy Class and Year 3 are focusing on the poem ‘On the Ning Nang Nong’ by Spike Miligan. On the Ning Nang Nong Where the Cows go Bong! and the monkeys all say BOO! There's a Nong Nang Ning Where the trees go Ping! And the tea pots jibber jabber joo. On the Nong Ning Nang All the mice go Clang And you just can't catch 'em when they do! So its Ning Nang Nong Cows go Bong! Nong Nang Ning Trees go ping Nong Ning Nang The mice go Clang What a noisy place to belong is the Ning Nang Ning Nang Nong!! Daffodil Class are focusing on the poem ‘Now we are six’ by A.A. Milne. When I was one, I had just begun. When I was two, I was nearly new. When I was three, I was hardly me. When I was four, I was not much more. When I was five, I was just alive. But now I am six, I'm as clever as clever. So I think I'll be six now and forever Bluebell and Buttercup Class are focusing on the poem ’Snow Storm’ by Robert Patinson. The land was white and freezing cold the snow had come and taken hold. A blizzard moved in from the north and told the flurries to go forth. A howling sound brings with it chills, frozen words drift through the hills. The trees wear coats of fluffy snow, the land’s so bright it seems to glow. Snowflakes drifted down from the sky whipped by the wind in swirls they fly. A light and freezing screen they form, the blizzard grows into a storm. Year 4 are focusing on the poem ‘The Crocodile’ by Lewis Caroll. How doth the little crocodile Improve his shining tail, And pour the waters of the Nile On every golden scale! How cheerfully he seems to grin How neatly spreads his claws, And welcomes little fishes in, With gently smiling jaws! Woodpecker Hall’s reading focus this week will be History Books. The school makes no profit from selling uniform ourselves, and as we grow in size holding stock on site takes up valuable school space that can be used for supporting learning instead. Parent Teacher Association We are currently looking for volunteers to be part of Woodpecker Hall’s PTA. Thank you if you have already put your name forward. We have many projects in mind such as our own mini-bus, an adventure playground, a geodesic dome for our Zen garden and we’d like to use any money raised towards a fantastic school trip for our first ever Year 6 class! There will be lots to keep any committed PTA member busy. Your ideas will always be welcomed and all money raised will be used here at Woodpecker Hall for the benefit of your child/children. If you are able to commit to one meeting per half term on school premises and be able to give some time to fundraising and supporting activities within school hours please come in and speak to the office.
