Guidelines
Pre-K and Kindergarten
1)
The poster project is due on Monday,
February 16th, 2015

You may work together as a family on this

Be as creative as possible. You may decorate
your poster using buttons, pictures, and various craft
items. Use plenty of color (crayons, markers, etc.)

Please locate information on the following
person: ____________________ you may use any
type of reference material for details and facts about your person. Please use additional
resources, such as encyclopedias, books, or the internet if you require more information on
your subject. If you have another person of interest please let me know and I will make the
adjustments.
5) Please see the example below on how to arrange your poster:
a. Divide the poster board into 3 even sections (You can do this by drawing vertical
lines.
b. In the first section (WHO), write the full name of your subject; below that (WHAT)
write two sentences on what that person is famous for.
c. In the middle column, as a heading, write the Inventor’s Name, then draw or find a
picture of the person identified as an inventor. You can either draw or cut out
pictures. Try to find a picture of his/her invention to include in this section. BE
CREATIVE!
d. In the last column (WHERE) section, write where this person was born (city and
state) and Finally (WHY) is this person famous in Black History, What has he/she
accomplished? Fold the poster into thirds and write “Who AM I” on the doors of the
poster board so that their name and picture is not exposed..

Fourth Grade: Historically Black Universities and Colleges in
Alabama
1) The poster project is due on Friday, February 13th, 2015
2) You may work together as a family on this project, however it should be primarily completed
by the student.
3) Be as creative as possible. You may decorate your poster using buttons, pictures, and
various craft items. Use plenty of color (crayons, markers, etc.)
4) Research topics will be given at school. Students will also do their research at school.
Please feel free to use additional resources, such as encyclopedias, books, or the internet if
you require more information on your subject.

a. Divide the poster board into 3 even sections (You can do this by drawing vertical

b. In the first section (History) write a brief history of the school. DO NOT COPY AND
PASTE! This needs to be put in the student’s own words.
c. In the middle column, as a heading, write the name of the school. Under that, include
a picture of the school’s crest and/or mascot. You can either draw or cut out pictures.
Below Pictures, add (Alumni). List at least one famous/influential person that have
attended the school. Include what he/she is known for.
d. In the last column (BACKGROUND INFO), tell when the school was founded, who
founded it and the date it was founded. Also include any previous name’s the school
had.
