Golf and So Much More—Full Day
For kids who want to try golf but don’t want to spend all day at it,
this great combo camp is a 50/50 split that will keep them interested
all day long. With the help of a Montgomery County Golf Academy
instructor, all campers will practice putting, chipping, driving, and
using irons and woods at the Driving Range, and then on Friday,
we will go to a nearby golf course to play a round of 9 holes. Golf
equipment will be provided to those who don’t have their own golf
clubs. Each camper will receive professional instruction, tees, and
Nike Golf balls. In the afternoon, full-day campers will participate in
group activities such as field games (examples: soccer, basketball,
kick ball, etc.), mini-golf, and water fun at the South Germantown
Splash Park. Please note that all activities will be held outside, and
can vary depending on the weather. Bring a non-perishable lunch
and snack, water bottle, sunscreen, bathing suit, and towel. Fee
covers instruction, tees, Nike Golf® balls, and transportation to the
golf course on Friday. Full-day campers will also receive a Nike Golf®
hat and Papa John’s Pizza for lunch on Friday. Don’t want ‘So Much

Beginner/Intermediate Golf Camp
This half-day camp is just the ticket for kids 6-14 years old who have
expressed interest in and/or shown a talent for golf, but aren’t quite
ready to play a full round. With the help of a Montgomery County
Golf Academy instructor, campers will practice putting, chipping,
driving, and using irons and woods Monday-Thursday at the Driving
Range. On Friday, they’ll compete in a small tournament at a nearby
golf course. It’ll be a blast for juniors, and a great way to develop the
skills needed to start playing golf with the family. Camp fee includes
instruction, tees, Nike Golf balls and transportation on Friday.

Ice Skating & Hockey Summer Camps
Ice Skating Summer Fun Camp
Join us at the coolest camp around! This full-day camp includes a
30-minute ice skating lesson with a professional skating coach in the
morning and then open skating time in the afternoon to practice
new skating skills. Lesson groups will be divided based on age and
skating ability, and skaters will be evaluated at the end of the week
to determine their current skating level. We’ll also do lots of fun
indoor and outdoor off-ice activities, including stretching and fun
fitness activities! Please bring comfortable athletic shoes, a nonperishable lunch (no nut products please), snack, and water bottle
each day. Rental skates will be provided, if needed.

The ‘Cool’ Summer Ice Skating Camp
Cool down this summer at Wheaton Ice Arena! This full-day camp is
for all, from absolute beginners to up-and-coming ice skating stars.
Campers will skate twice every day in the morning and afternoon,
including a 30-minute ice skating lesson taught by a professional
instructor and ice time during the public session to practice the skills
learned. Lesson groups will be divided based on age and skating
ability, and skaters will be evaluated at the end of the week to
determine their current skating level. We’ll also do lots of fun indoor

If your child loves hockey, why not treat them to
a five-day hockey camp? We’ll focus on skating,
stick handling, and off-ice fitness; and incorporate
elements of power skating, passing and shooting,
and games to make this a fun-filled week! Plus,
each camper will receive a complimentary
hockey jersey! Players will be assigned to groups
according to their skill level. Full gear required:
Caged helmet, curved stick cut to skater’s height,
shin guards, elbow and shoulder pads, hockey
gloves and pants, cup, and hockey skates. Rental

Figure Skating Competitions Camp
Theatre On Ice Camp
Prerequisite: Passed Basic 5.
Is your child ready to compete at a figure skating competition? Give
them the opportunity to practice and prepare for figure skating
competitions in this week-long camp. Skaters will work on jumps,
spins, power skating, and off-ice conditioning, and work with
the instructor to create a short program to perform. On Friday,
we’ll stage our own mini-competition so they can show everyone
what they’ve learned. Campers will receive expert on- and off-ice
coaching, sharpen technical and performance skills, gain confidence,
and get ready to compete! Please bring sneakers for off-ice
workouts, snack, and a water bottle.

true artistry on the ice, and also provide an exciting performance
opportunity. Throughout the week, skaters will work on music
interpretation and choreography, and rehearse for the performance.

Here’s an opportunity for skaters to learn the fundamentals of a
fast-growing, really fun team sport! Figure skaters will learn the five
basic elements of synchronized skating: circles, blocks, lines, wheels,
and intersections while skating connected. All skaters are invited

running around, so wear comfortable walking shoes! Only open

Lacrosse & Field Sports Camp
This full-day, five-day camp is designed to give your child the
opportunity to learn and play lacrosse and other field sports in a
single week. Each morning, using games, personal instruction, and
drills, camp staff will teach beginner- and intermediate-level players
the basics to help improve their lacrosse skills. Each afternoon,
campers will play a variety of field sports such as flag football,
wiffleball, kickball, dodgeball, and much more. Camp will meet at
the Wheaton Sports Pavilion every morning and finish there every
evening. Each camper will need to bring their own lacrosse helmet,
stick, gloves, cup or pelvic protector, and tennis shoes or cleats.

Outdoor Adventure Camp
Discover the outdoors in this wildly popular, high-adventure day
camp! Each week the activities scheduled are White Water Rafting,
Zip Lines, Rappelling, Aerial Obstacle and Ropes Courses, Go Carts,
Miniature Golf, Rock Climbing, Hiking, Pedal Karts, Jumping Pillow,
Archery, Learning to Pitch a Tent, and Building a Campfire. Activities
are subject to change depending on the weather. Transportation
to and from daily activities is provided based out of Cabin John Ice
Rink. Due to space limitations, the extended-care option is only
available from 8-9 am for this camp. Please bring a non-perishable
lunch, snack, water bottle, bug spray, and sunscreen each day.

Totally Tennis
Take your game to the next
level while making new friends
in this fun, week-long (airconditioned) camp for kids ages
8 to 14. Campers will be divided
by age and experience. Younger
campers and beginners will enjoy
games-based activities that
teach the fundamentals: handeye coordination, movement,
and basic tennis strokes plus
parts of the court, scorekeeping,
and etiquette. Older and more
experienced players will be
grouped to ensure they get a good
challenge during drills and point
play with peers while working to
improve technique, consistency,
and competitive strategy. There will be plenty of time for warmups, cardio, and cool down throughout the day, along with breaks
for snacks and lunch plus off-court fun. And since the best part of
tennis is PLAYING, Fridays at Totally Tennis will finish with a mini
tournament featuring match play and large group games adapted
for all ages and levels. Sneakers and comfortable clothing are a
must. If you need to borrow a racquet, we are happy to loan you
one. Please bring a non-perishable lunch (no nut products please), a
refillable water bottle, and snacks to last for a full day of camp.

Join us this summer at the Wheaton Sports Pavilion for the camp
of a lifetime! Each session, campers will enjoy the freedom of the
outdoors by taking nature walks through the beautiful areas of
Wheaton Regional Park, receive one beginner’s tennis lesson at the
Wheaton Indoor Tennis facility, and participate in one ice skating
lesson at the Wheaton Ice Arena. Campers will take a field trip each
week to the South Germantown Splash Playground and Miniature
Golf Course as well as enjoy rides on the Miniature Train and
Carousel, weather permitting of course. Campers will participate in
fun camp games, songs, arts and crafts, and much more. Campers
will be extremely active, so plan to wear your most comfortable
walking or athletic shoes. Camp will meet at the Sports Pavilion
every morning and finish there each evening. Before- and after-care

“CHOPPED,” a spring break cooking camp based on the reality TV
cooking show. Each camp day, a different cuisine will be highlighted

This beginning kayaking camp is the perfect way to connect
with nature, get fit, gain confidence, and make friends! Certified
kayak instructors will use American Canoe Association-approved
curriculum to teach proper equipment use, safety, basic strokes,

Advanced Fishing Camp
Prerequisite: Completion of Beginning Fishing Camp, or experience

fishing camp will focus on building skills and techniques to

Environment Nature and Science Camp (T.E.E.N.S.). Learn about
nature and have fun at the same time. Shadow park naturalists,
teachers, and other professionals as they guide you through a
fascinating exploration of science and nature. Learn environmental
monitoring, animal tracking, and plant/animal identification. You’ll
also get the chance to practice what you’ve learned with younger
campers. The experience will last a lifetime (and won’t look bad on
your resume either!). SSL hours may be available for some hours of
this camp.

Enjoy some of the crafts, games, cooking, and adventures that
your favorite American Girl characters loved! You’ll have five days
full of AG-inspired fun based on the lives of the characters Felicity
(1774), Kirsten (1854), and Molly (1944). Camp fee includes van
transportation to local field trip sites. Camp meets at Meadowside
Nature Center.

Cultivate your child’s love of the outdoors by letting them spend a
week hiking trails, splish-splashing in the creek, and catching insects
and fish in Black Hill Regional Park. Discovery and exploration
will lead to an understanding of how we are connected to the
land and its creatures, and vice-versa. Campers will play in the
great outdoors, meet people who work with natural resources
and wildlife, make crafts, and take part in other activities that will

combination. In our week of crazy creativity, we’ll explore the many
ways water can be used to inspire and form artwork, from painting
with watercolors and ice, to making snow globes, or fashioning water
drums. Our fluid activities will teach us water’s properties, power, and
multidimensional beauty. Come prepared to get wet!

Creek Week at Brookside Nature Center
From small streams to the Chesapeake Bay, water is home to many
plants and animals. Come investigate the wonders of water! We’ll
explore the streams and ponds at Brookside Nature Center, and hike
to Pine Lake and the Northwest Branch to find out how these bodies
of water were formed and who lives there. We’ll scout for frogs,
fish, ducks, and dragonflies, and learn how to catch, identify, and
safely release other aquatic critters. It will be a wet and wonderful
week!

about the Triassic, Jurassic,
and Cretaceous time periods
and the giants that roamed the
earth. Learn about the habitats
of the day and the types of
dinosaurs both big and small
from this prehistoric world.
Campers will dig for bones
using the tools paleontologists
rely on to make discoveries.
We’ll create our own model
fossils and examine fossils from
our park system. We’ll also
examine the forces that may
have transformed the world
of dinosaurs, leading to their
extinction.
Locust Grove Nature Center
It’s a week of water-filled explorations! We’ll investigate Cabin John
Creek and the surrounding wetlands to find how they were formed
and who lives there. As junior naturalists, we’ll learn how water is
important to all living things and take a closer look at things that
live in water by scouting for frogs, fish, and dragonflies and learning
how to catch, identify, and safely release other aquatic critters.
Prepare to spend extra time getting wet and learning how the creek
is important to this habitat!

Once Upon a Time in a Cabin
Step into the nineteenth-century life of a kid at a time before
the invention of automobiles, cell phones, and pizza delivery.
How would your family find food, communicate with a friend in
another town, or get around? In this week-long trip into the past,
we’ll rediscover traditional games, skills, and crafts such as animal
tracking, tin smithing, letterboxing, and more. We may even find
ways to entertain ourselves without electronics!

Boats & Creeks & Things Mini-Camp
Don’t miss the boat on the last week of summer! Campers will spend
the first part of their day learning how to kayak or canoe or enjoy
a relaxed ride on the pontoon. The second half of the day will be
spent exploring the park’s streams and creeks. Fee includes kayak/
canoe, personal flotation devices (PFDs), and all other necessary
equipment. Campers must be able to swim and tread water for one

Use ActiveMONTGOMERY.org to register for activities (courses, camps, etc.); to
reserve community centers, park activity buildings, and other facilities; and to purchase
memberships offered by Montgomery Parks and Montgomery County Recreation.

10am-2pm), or visit Montgomery Parks locations
offering activities that require registration. See the
Parks “Facility Directory” for these locations.
PAYMENT INFORMATION
• Full payment must be made at time of registration.
Do not submit registrations and/or payments to
Parks or Recreation instructors.
• For Montgomery County Recreation activities,
non-county residents must pay an additional $15
per activity per participant. This fee does not apply
to Montgomery Parks activities.
• CHECKS & MONEY ORDERS
- Make checks and money orders payable to
ActiveMONTGOMERY.
- Checks and money orders must include name,
address, and phone number.
- If your check is returned unpaid, your account will
be debited for the original check amount,
and electronically or via paper for the state’s
maximum allowable service fee. Payment
by check constitutes authorization of these
transactions. You may revoke your authorization
by calling 800-666-5222, ext. 2 to arrange
payment for any outstanding checks and service
fees due.
- Please allow 2 weeks to receive a refund by check.
• CREDIT CARDS: Visa, MasterCard, American
Express and Discover are accepted. Registration
form must include correct credit card number,
expiration date, authorized signature and
