Research
With regards to my research practice; my work was included in the first definitive book on the history of Scottish
Photography, “Scottish Photography: A History”. In the chapter on contemporary photography the author states two
things about my influence and impact as an educator and artist.
As an educator:
“Vaughan Judge, in particular has been responsible for encouraging a radical program of photographic art from
students at Glasgow School of Art” (p. 155-156)
As an artist:
“In addition to this, Vaughan Judge’s practice has developed into one of the more fascinating neo-conceptual forms
of the contemporary period”. (p. 155-156)
My photographic and installation artworks have been included in three additional exhibitions and publications which
have held historical significance and influence in the development of the photographic medium. The book Light
from the Darkroom: A Celebration of Scottish Photography, which was also a major exhibition, was published in
1995 UK. In 2003, I was included in the touring exhibition and publication Scotland Calls: 100 years of Scottish
Photography, which was curated by Murray Forbes of the Navigator Foundation in Boston, USA. In 2012, my work
was included in the exhibition “Figures in The Landscape: One Hundred Years of Photography”, New York.
