In accordancewith the provision of Section 65.5 of the Agricultural
Code, I submit herewith a report of the acreage production and~
value of agriculturein Merced County.
I wish to emphasize that figures presented here are value of production
and not net income to the grower. Crops generally provided lower returns
to farmers during 19k9.
A five year chart of acreage plsmted is included. Fruit, nut and grape
acreage is listed by varieties.
The compilationof this informationwas made possible through the
assistanceof those engaged in growlng, harvesting, hsndling and
marketing the county agricultu~alproducts;ahd to them we express
our appreciation.

COUNTY
DEPARTMENT
OFAGRICULTURE
To the Director, State Departmentof Agriculture
and
To the County Board of Supervisors:
I respectfullysubmit a report of the acreage,production,
aud valu~ of agriculturein Merced County for the calendar
year of i950. Section 65.5 of the Agricultural Code requires that an annual report be made to the Director.
In orcler to obtain these figures, many individuals, shippers,
handlers, and others have given their time and effort to make
this report as comprehensiveand accurate as possible. I wish
to emphasizethat the figures preseate~here are based entirely
upon availabledata secured from a number of reliable sources,
and representthe best thinking of many persons.
It is important to understandthat the value of production
reported here is the net ~orth to the farmer of his products
on the market and is not to be construed to mean the net income. Increased farm p~oduction expenses and costs should be
deducted to arrive at the net income.
Copies of this report are sent to Federal, State, and County
agencies and to individualsand industry upon request.
Lucluded in this report i~ a five year chart of acres planted.
The bearing and non-bearingtree fruit, nut and grape acreage
is listed by variety.

MERCED COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE
To the Director, State Departmentof Agricultur~
and
To the County Board of Supervisors:
I respectfullysubmit a report of the acreage, production, and value
of agriculturein Merced County for the calendar year of 1951.
Section 65.5 of the AgriculturalCode requires that an annual
report be made to the Director.
In order to obtain these figures, many individuals,~b~ppers,
handlers, and others have given their time and effort ~o make
this report as comprehensive and accurate as possible. I wish
to emphasize that the figures presented here are based entirely
upon available data secured from a number of reliable sources,
and represent the best thinking of many persons.
It is important to understand that the value of production
reported here is the net worth to the farmer of his products
on the market and is not to be construedto mean the net income. Increased farm production expenses and costs should be
deducted to arrive at the net income.
Copies of this report are sent to Federal, State, and County
agencies and to individualsand industry upon request.
Included in this report is a five-yea~ chart of acres planted.
The bearing and non-bearir~tree fruit, nut and grape acreage
is listed by variety.

I
To the Director, State Departmentof Agriculture
and
To the Merced County Board of Supervisors:
This AgriculturalCrop Report includes acreage, production, and
value of productionin Merced County fo2 the calendar year 1952~
as required of the AgriculturalCommissionerby Section 65.5 of
the AgriculturalCode.
Values are worth of commoditiesin the market and not the net
income. Price changes and increased costs of production left
very little profit in some instances. Gross returns may be
misleading unless considerationis given to acreage planted
and yields. The growing season was considered average.
This data ~Tas secured from growers, handlers~shippers, and
many others and represen~the best thinking of many people.
For their cooperation~e express our sincere thanks.
A five-yearchart of acreage planted is included.

In accordancewith the requirementsof Section 65°5 of the Agricultural
Code, I submit a report of acreage, production, and value of agricult’~re
in Merced County for the calendar year 1953o
Our widely diversifiedagricultureis reported under field~ truck~ fruit
and nut crops~ animal industry, and miscellaneous, which includes nursery
stock and bees°
A chart indicatingacreage planted to crops during the past five years is
included° Bearing and non-bearing acreage of fruit and nut crops are listed
by variety°
In reporting production~we have used units of weight s~,d measure commonly
accepted in the sale of the product° Value of producti~m is market value~
FOB ranch, or upon delivery to packers, processors, preserw~rs~and manufacturers° I wish to emphasiz@ that market values reported here are not
net income.
This report represents the best thinking of many people° The information
was gathered by our entire staff ~nd compiled largely by Eo C~ Fitchett~
Senior Inspector° The cooperation of growers, handlers, and others made
made this possible, and to them we express our sincere appreciation°
Copies of the Annual Report are mailed to Federal, St~e3 and County
agencies,and to others upon request°

In accordance with the requirements of Section 65.5 of the Agricultural Code~ I
submit a report of acreage, productions and value of agriculture in Merced Co~Ity
for the calendar year 1954.
Our widely diversified agriculture is reported under field~ truck~ seed~ fruit and
nut crops, animal industry~ and miscellaneous~ which includes nursery s~ock and bees..
A chart indicating acreage planted to crops during the past five years is included.
Bearing and non-bearing acreage of fruit and nut crops are listed by variety°
In reporting production~ we have used units of weight and measure commonly accepted
in the sale of the product. Value of production is market value, FOB ranch, or upon
delivery to packers, processorss preservers, and manufacturers. I wish to emphasize
that market values reported here are not net income.
This report represents the best thinking of many people. The information was gathered
by our entire staff and compiled largely by Eo Co Fitchett, Senior Inspector~ The cooperation of growers, handlers~ and others made this possibles and to them we express
our sincere appreciation.
Copies of the Annual Report are mailed to Federal~ State~ and County agencies~ and
to others upon request.
