Share and Care Newsletter February 2013 Groundhog Day is celebrated on February 2. According to folklore, if it is cloudy when a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day, then spring will come early; if it is sunny, the groundhog will supposedly see its shadow and retreat back into its burrow, and the winter weather will continue for six more weeks. Share and Care Newsletter February 2013 February 1, 2013, marks the 10th Year of the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women® movement — 10 years of fighting to save women's lives from heart disease. While the progress has been significant, there's a long way to go. Here's why: Heart disease is still the No. 1 killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths each year. Heart disease kills more women than men, at an average rate of one death per minute. Heart disease kills more women than all kinds of cancer combined. National Wear Red Day® urges you to play your part. Here's how: Wear red on Friday, February 1. Help raise funds through donations and fundraisers for lifesaving educational programs and the development of new treatments to fight heart disease. Make your workplace, school or organization aware of heart disease, its deadly impact on women and how we can fight back. Walk the talk by being physically active, eating a heart-healthy diet and learning about heart disease and its risk factors. Invite others to get involved so we can advance further, faster. www.heart.org We all know it is important for us to get our paychecks. There is a process that we have to go through for each and every employee of Share and Care to process payroll. Timesheets are due on the last day of every month by 9am and that has not changed. We are consistently having problems getting this information entered in by the deadline. What is the reason for the delay and have you discussed it with anyone? We want to have your paychecks ready for you by the 7th day of every month, but it has become increasingly difficult to complete this task in a timely manner if time is not entered. Most importantly, please enter your time into the computer before the end of the month. By logging in and entering your time frequently, it eliminates the chaos and frustration on the last day of the month. What can we do to help you? If you have questions and/or concerns, please give Angie or Rachel a call so we can address the situation. After all, we ALL have a job to do! Angie 660-885-8330 x 11 Rachel 660-885-8330 x 23
