Noise pollution surrounds us every day through various items like the radio, television, our voices, cars, birds, animals, etc. these occur through various tasks that we perform on a daily bases. Too much noise on our ears can cause damage and even can lead to hearing loss from exposure to sound. Depending on the exposure of sound we are around can be a factor as to how quickly our hearing can go. Decibels (dB) which is a measurement of sound waves. It’s how we hear sounds. Soft sounds 0dB Annoying sounds 70-80 dB Louder sounds 120-130 dB Each item that we heard through sound waves. As these sound waves get louder we can start running into trouble. “Doctors have recently discovered that constant noise may also lead to emotional and psychological problems” (DuBay, 376). Recommendations: If the person sitting next to you can hear your music then you need to turn your music down. Avoid being around loud noise like construction sites, concerts, etc. More of limit yourself to the louder sounds. Keep the volume low enough to where you can hear it. Not everybody likes the same music you like, so try to keep the music down or television. Wear protecting hearing aids when moving or using loud sounds like power tools, etc.
