As of 2016, all UNICEF staff members have a development plan in Agora, connected to the Achieve PER system. You can access your plan from various pages in Agora. From the main menu you can access your plan under: My Learning > Development Plans First identify 2 to 3 development goals. They should reflect a change that will help you perform your duties and the deliverables described in your PER. Click on and fill in the form that opens on your screen. Make sure to select relevant work output deliverables from the list (assuming you already created them in Achieve. Once a goal is created, you can easily update it by clicking on the cog next to the goal’s title. For each goal, identify 2 to 3 learning activities. Options to add activities appear below your goals. Check activities from the Agora catalogue by clicking on: This option sends you to the catalogue. Use the text based search and filters to narrow your search. When you see an activity that interests you, click on to see the detailed activity summary page. On each activity summary page, you will see a “Plans options” block (see screenshot on the right), allowing you to link the activity to your plan, or to your team members plan if you are a manager. Note that this process does not mean that you are enrolled for the activity. You are only bookmarking the activity in your plan. You are also encouraged to consider activities outsides the catalogue, both formal (e.g. external / local workshops) and informal (stretch assignment, conferences). You can add such activities as Personal Learning activities. To add an entirely new Personal Learning activity, select the button, and fill in as much information as you can. You then need to click on to attach this activity to your plan. If you had already created Personal Learning activities in an other context in Agora, you can simply use the second step of this process. Associate all activities with a development goal. The activities you selected or created show in the section “Activities for my review” (in purple, below your goals). You will need to drag-and-drop each activity to the relevant development goal it supports. Note that you can add activities, move them or delete them during the year. All your learning activities must be associated with a goal. Throughout the year, you are free to add or remove development goals or activities related to those goals. We recommend that you keep your development goals unchanged throughout the year, but allow flexibility in the choice of learning activities (formal or informal) that will allow you to achieve these goals. Deleting activities: You can remove an activity from your plan by clicking on the “x” sign on the right side of the activity. Note that if you enrolled in the activity and started it, your progress will not be deleted, and you will still see the activity in your record of learning. It is only removed from your plan’s view. Editing/Completing Personal learning activities: To edit a personal learning activity, you first need to open it (click on its title) and then click on “Edit this content” in the upper right corner of the activity page. When you finish the activity, make sure to upload certificate or evidence if possible, and then mark the activity as completed by ticking the check box on the personal learning activity page. Goal status: In the upper right corner of each goal, you can use a drop down list option to specify the status of the goal (see image on the right). It is important that you keep this status up to date as you progress with your plan. You will also notice that your development plan has a discussion and validation section, in yellow at the bottom of your plan. Use this section to document discussions with your manager and detail changes made to the plan or achievements using the comments options and to sign off on your initial plan. As you approach the end of the year, you will receive a notification that the “Year wrap-up” tab is now available in your plan, allowing you to initiate the finalization of your annual development plan. Start this process by reviewing your plan, updating your goals status, verifying the work plan deliverables related to each goal and adding or deleting learning activities as needed. Schedule a discussion with your manager to discuss your plan, and detail how you believe you have achieved your goals and how this has helped you in your work using the comments area of the “Year wrap up” tab. When you are done, click on the “Sign off” button.
