International Festival
Sole Searching in South America Parts 1 & 2
(Director’s Cut) and talks with Gary Aspden and
James Brown
Leeds International Festival is a new festival that will
bring some of the world’s most talented and interesting
people to Leeds to share a platform with the city’s own
world class creatives.
After a tip off about a store stacked high with
vintage Adidas products, Creative Consultant
Gary Aspden flew to Buenos Aires with a team
of Adidas enthusiasts to investigate. The trips
were documented in the heart-warming films
Sole Searching in South America (Parts I & II).
The films show the reality of sourcing dead stock
sportswear and the commitment and effort that
goes into finding gems from Adidas’ past.
Over nine days in April 2017, Leeds will experience the best of music,
moving image, tech and fashion. Guests can experience performances
from international stars, film screenings, exhibitions, industry
conferences and workshops. Leeds International Festival is a celebration
of our city with the world, and everyone is invited.
Fashion in Leeds presents a screening of the
Director’s Cut of films followed by a Q&A
with Gary Aspden about the film, his work and
the sportswear industry. Gary will be joined by
host James Brown, editor of sabotagetimes.com
and founder of Loaded magazine.

@leedsBID
Fashion in Leeds is a new strategy for fashion
professionals in our city, funded by LeedsBID. In
the first six months of the strategy, Fashion in
Leeds launched a feature length film, a television
advertising campaign and a new online directory
for fashion industry professionals and students in
Leeds for members to create profiles that can be
searched by name or specialist skill, encouraging
networking and collaborations across the city.
Fashion in Leeds aims to maximise the exposure of brands in the city
and challenge the perception that being based in London is a prerequisite
to being at the cutting edge of the UK’s fashion industry. It’s with this
in mind that we are bringing the essence and credibility of the world’s
fashion stage to Leeds as part of the Leeds International Festival with a
constant stream of fashion shows over the festival’s debut weekend.
Throughout the following week, the Fashion Space will be reworked
into an area for talks and discussions from world leaders in the
fashion industry.
