Materials you’ll need:
A balloon
Large Bowl
Newspaper
Half Water/Half White Glue Mix
Scissors
Coloured Paint
Paper Cup
Coloured Ribbon
Scraps of coloured paper

Instructions:
1.Blow up balloon and place in a large bowl for stability. Cut lots
of the newspaper into long, skinny stips.
2. Dip newspaper strips into glue mixture and papier-mache 3 layers
of newspaper onto the balloon.
3. When papier-mache is completely dry, pop the balloon. Even out
the bottom hole with scissors - Ask an adult to help you!

4. Paint the balloon any way you like! YOu can make stripes,
squares or any pattern you wish! Paint the paper cup too and
leave both to dry.
5. Cut the ribbon into 5 equal length pieces (about 30cm long) and
cut out 4 medium sized circles from the coloured paper.
6. Use the glue to stick the 4 of the ribbon pieces to opposite sides
of the balloon and stick the 4 circles over the ribbon to hide the
ribbon’s edges.
7. Make 4 holes around the top of the paper cup, thread the ribbon
from the balloon into the cups and tie a knot - Ask an adult to
help, it might be fiddly! This is the balloons basket!
8. Make a small hole in the top of the balloon, tie a big knot in
the last piece of ribbon and thread through the hole at the top
of the balloon! Now you can hang your balloon!
