Congratulations to Dylan and Ruby who made their First Holy Communion last Sunday at the 9am Mass. The rest of the
First Holy Communion candidates (who will make their First Communion on the Feast of Corpus Christi) break from
their lessons now until after Easter. It would be wonderful if they joined the Children’s Liturgy Group during Holy Week
and Easter. There will be a Children’s Liturgy on Palm Sunday. We have family Stations of the Cross at 10.30am on
Good Friday, after which the children will be releasing balloons from the presbytery garden onto which will be tied their
Easter prayers and good wishes for Pope Francis. If we are lucky the balloons will fly back from Rome, like the bells all
over Italy, with eggs for Easter Sunday.
Next week is Palm Sunday. The palms that welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem would have been green! It
would be lovely if the children could bring greenery from their gardens. The 9am Mass will begin in the
Becket Centre on Palm Sunday from where we will process into the Church.
Well done to the Children’s Liturgy Group who raised £160.22 last
Sunday morning with their bake sale. Thank you to all those of you who supported
the children. Together the Children’s Liturgy Group and the Gospel Experience
Group have raised enough money for our Parish to pay for
thirteen
wells this Lent for communities where clean water is so desperately needed. Any
donations for Cafod towards more wells can be given to myself, Dermott and Marie or
Lucy.
Congratulations to the children from Classes 3 and 4 at St Mary’s who gave a very moving performance of Roll Back the
Stone in the Church last Tuesday. Thank you to those parishioners who came along and supported the school, and to
those of you who came along to the Lent and Passiontide end of term Mass at St Mary’s.
Last week’s collection came to £524.80. Thank you.
