Alban Sanchez
Director of international trade strengthening.
Ministry of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica.
In his current position as director in the Ministry of foreign trade of Costa Rica, Mr. Sanchez is
responsible for the conduction of initiatives and public policy recommendations for country´s overall
competitiveness and specially those regarding private sector support towards internationalization.
He has an engineering degree in electronics from the Costa Rica´s Institute of Technology and for the
last 10 years has been part of Costa Rica´s public sector dedicated to the promotion of foreign trade. He
was director for the department of Productive Linkages in the Foreign Trade Corporation (PROCOMER),
Assistant General Manager and during last year, General Manager ad interim.
He has a long experience designing, executing and evaluating programs for scaling up the capacities of
SMEs, fostering trade across productive sectors and developing initiatives for business climate
enhancement. Also was responsible for strategic planning and strategy execution as well as major
organizational improvements within PROCOMER, restructuring processes, departments and services for
exporters.
