WALKING PEOPLE AT YOUR SERVICE IN THE CITY OF LONDON In association with WALKING IS GOOD FOR BUSINESS We are Living Streets, the UK charity for everyday walking. For more than 85 years we’ve been a beacon for this simple act. In our early days our campaigning led to the UK’s first zebra crossings and speed limits. Now our campaigns, projects and services deliver real change to overcome barriers to walking and our groundbreaking initiatives encourage millions of people to walk. Walking is an integral part of all our lives and it can provide a simple, low cost solution to the increasing levels of long-term health conditions caused by physical inactivity. Proven to have positive effects on both mental and physical health, walking can help reduce absenteeism and staff turnover and increase productivity levels. INTRODUCING OUR SERVICES We’ve been working in partnership with the City of London since 2010, running a range of initiatives to encourage people to walk more within, to and from the City. As part of our relationship with the City of London which funds the post of our London Coordinator, Richard Lambert, we are able to lend some expertise to promote walking at no cost. In addition, we have a range of paid-for services that can be tailored to fit your needs. FACE TO FACE WALK DOCTOR CONSULTATIONS Our popular walk doctor events are a fun and effective way to promote active travel by talking to your staff about their travel habits and providing advice on how to build walking into their day. WALKING MAPS Walking maps give people the know-how and confidence to walk more. Tapping into our local knowledge of the City we can create custom-made walking maps including your office locations, points of interest and bespoke walking trails to help employees explore the City on their doorstep. LED WALKS AND WALK LEADER TRAINING We can design a programme of led walks to run at times to suit you. If you have the interest in-house we can train walk leaders to champion walking from within your organisation. We offer a simple training package that covers route planning, organisation and risk management. DIGITAL WALKING TRAILS Living Streets has an exclusive arrangement with Crumbs, the city trail app, combining elements of treasure hunt, walking tours and local knowledge quiz. We can create bespoke trails for your staff to download and follow, which begin and end at locations of your choice, and on any theme. COMMUNITY STREET AUDITS Our unique community street audits evaluate commonly walked routes from the perspective of the people who use them. We will support your employees to assess the local area around your office and create recommendations for making the area more walking friendly. EVENT PACKAGES Every May is Living Streets’ National Walking Month, and this could be a great time to launch walking activity within your organisation. You may also have a wellbeing week in the calendar – we can design bespoke packages to cover the walking elements; including e-comms to your staff with daily walking tips.
