SIDEKICK SOCCER ACADEMY U6-­‐U8 CURRICULUM U6-­‐U8 Session 2 BALL MASTERY (Create Space Moves) Coach’s Qualities: Demonstrate Proper Technique, Patient, Enthusiastic, Imaginative Goals for Players: Short attention span, Begin to solve soccer problems (pass to teammate), Improved pace regulation What to TEACH Technique: Dribbling, Receiving, Passing, Shooting, Tackling, Catching Psychology: Work in pairs, Sportsmanship, “How to Play”, Fitness: Introduce idea of Warm-­‐Up, Agility, Leaping, Tumbling, Eye/Foot/Hand coordination Tactics: Exposed to all positions, 1v1 attacking, 1v1 defending, 2v1 attacking, Names of positions, Triangle/Diamond Shape Rules: Corner Kick, Direct Kick, Throw-­‐Ins, Physical Fouls Ideal Training Session: 60-­‐75 Minutes (five groups of activities) Ideal 4v4 (No GK) Field Size: 35x30 Yards •

#1 – Dynamic Warm-­‐Up (w/ or w/o ball) – 10 – 15 minutes #2 – Small Sided Activity – 10 – 15 minutes #3 – Expanded Small-­‐Sided Activity – 10 – 15 minutes #4 – Large Group Activities (Scrimmage!) – 20 – 25 minutes #5 – Cool Down – 5 minutes Session Breakdown 0 – 10 Warm-­‐Up FEET LANES 10 – 25 1v1 Tag 25 – 40 Shark Attack 40 – 60 Small-­‐Sided Game (3v3 OR 4v4) NO GK Field Size: 35x30 Yards 60 – 65 Cool-­‐Down/Wrap-­‐Up If uneven amount of players for scrimmage, simply play 3v4, 4v5, etc. (DO NOT have players sit out) •
