The ppt can be found on Mrs. Campbell’s website, under the Science, Notes and Documents Page. www.kyrene.org/mcampbell The Water Planet Worksheet – As a group work through the Water Planet worksheet to see how much water is salt water and how much water is in each of the oceans TUESDAY OCEAN ZONES AND CREATURES Tuesday and Wednesday Ocean Assignment OCEAN ZONES Ocean life is Determined by these factors Life Zones Sunlight – most animals live near the surface – Intertidal – lies between low and high tide lines Temperature – most animals live near the surface of the ocean – it is warmer Near Shore (Neritic) – extends from the low-tide line to the end of the contintal shelf Water Pressure – most animals live near the surface – less water pressure 3 groups of ocean life Plankton – very small animals that float on or near the surface Nekton – animals that swim Benthos – animals that live on the ocean floor Open Ocean – Lies above the continental slope or on the abyssal plain Surface (Bathyal) – begins at the continental slope and continues down 200 meters Deep(Abyssal) – Covers the large flate abyssal plains of the ocean OCEAN CREATURES Pick an organism from the list and answer the questions on your worksheet.
