Maths Homework - Finstall First School

Maths Homework
(Every child throughout the school will be given this homework by Friday 23rd
October 2015. This will then be the maths homework for your child(ren) until Maths
Challenge Day.)
On Wednesday 18th November 2015 Finstall First School will be holding another
Maths Challenge Day throughout the school.
This year’s theme is The Human Body and for your homework
you should make a model of the human body, or part of the
skeleton. E.g. the ear. You should also research the skeleton to
find out any mathematical related facts. For example:
 Longest/shortest bone.
 The amount of bones in the body and if this varies.
 Various measurements
The list is endless and you can be as creative and
adventurous as you like!
Success Criteria
You must:
 Make a poster or model of the skeleton or part of the human body. E.g. How the
ear works,
 Write down any interesting mathematical facts about different body parts and the
skeleton.
 Bring your work into school on Maths Challenge Day (Wednesday 18th November ).
You should:
 Find facts about the functions of different body parts.
 Research the human body to find out extra information, e.g. height at different
stages of life, shapes, symmetry, etc.
You could:
 Include some photographs from your family and write mathematical facts.
(Remember to ask your parents/carers before you use the photographs!)
 Be adventurous and find out some amazing mathematical facts about babies,
toddlers, children, teenagers, adults and the elderly.
Remember: you can do your homework together with your brothers and sisters as a
family project.
