The company
The Zucchi family started a small edible oil business in 1810 in the area of the province of Lodi that lies
between Lodi and Cremona; this concern expanded into an industrial undertaking in the early 20th century.
1922 saw the introduction of the refining process which allowed Zucchi Oil to make its entrance onto the
mass market for food products, opening the way to the production first of seed oils and then of olive oil for
the retail chain and Ho.Re.Ca. markets.
In the early 1990s, the company’s growth made it necessary to move the business to the current site near
Cremona, on an area of 80,000 m2, with production capacity of up to 1,400,000 litres/day of packaged oil,
eight highly automated lines, state-of-the-art technology and a Research and Development laboratory with
an in-house team of skilled blendmasters and tasters for the performance of continual sensory analyses and
the creation of the best blends. The company has recently constructed the largest controlled-temperature (16°C) storage facility in Italy,
capable of holding about 4800 tonnes of extra virgin olive oil and conserving its quality and sensory characteristics. An interactive corridor
has also been created to guide visitors on a path of discovery of the company’s identity, history and values and its expertise in Olive Oil and
Blending. Its constant prioritisation of the best product quality has been rewarded with a variety of the most prestigious forms of certification,
obtained over the years. OLEIFICIO ZUCCHI WAS ONE OF THE FIRST TO BRING ITS OPERATIONS INTO LINE WITH THE BEST INTERNATIONAL
INTERNATIONAL QUALITY AND SAFETY STANDARDS, AND HAS ALSO ACHIEVED SA 8000 corporate responsibility certification, confirming
its respect for human and workers’ rights and the rights of the child (it was the first Italian edible oil company to gain CISE certification), not
to mention certification under the BS OHSAS 18001 occupational health and safety standards.
