Fairmont Waterfront Hotel.

Day 2 | Vancouver Island
One of the great treasures of British Columbia is Vancouver
Island and it’s capital Victoria, rated by Conde Naste Traveler
as one of the top ten cities in the world to visit. The pictureperfect Inner Harbour is surrounded by many of Victoria’s
beautiful character buildings and premier attractions: the
stately Empress Hotel, provincial Legislative Buildings,
museums and galleries.
This morning we make our way to Vancouver Island via
seaplane and enjoy afternoon tea on our arrival to the hotel.
This evening is yours to enjoy at leisure.
Overnight: Fairmont Empress Hotel
Day 3 | Vancouver Island
British Columbia’s biggest metropolis has been a hotbed
of sustainability for decades, befitting the home of one of
the world’s largest urban parks and the historic spot where
Greenpeace was founded. Already recognised as having the
smallest carbon footprint of any major city in North America,
Vancouver mayor Gregor Robertson recently committed to
making this “the world’s greenest city” by 2020. The initiative
covers issues of sustainability, liveability and urban planning
for residents and businesses and aims to implement programs
that will make Vancouver an eco-pioneer and green beacon
for communities around the world. A beautiful city to begin
our journey, it is a must to visit the jewel in the crown of this
“Green city” - Butchart Gardens on Vancouver Island. . This 50acre horticultural showplace is truly one of the finest displays
in the world. At your own pace, stroll through the myriad of
culturally influenced garden display.
Overnight: Fairmont Empress Hotel
Day 4 | Vancouver
Today we make our way back to Vancouver via seaplane to
board the Silver Shadow. Settle into your luxurious onboard
surroundings, your home for the next 7 nights.

Day 5 | Day At Sea, Inside Passage
A day at sea to experience Alaska’s grandeur up close and in
person from the comfort of the cruise ship. Today you will
glimpse diamond-blue icebergs, rushing mountain streams,
waterfalls and flora and a vast variety of wildlife including
bears and humpback whales.
Overnight: Silver Shadow
Day 6 | Ketchikan
Disembark the ship this morning to explore Ketchikan and
the quaint surrounding villages. Ketchikan is famous for
its colorful totem poles, rainy skies, steep-as-San Francisco
streets, and lush island setting. Some 13,500 people call
the town home, and, in the summer, cruise ships crowd the
shoreline, floatplanes depart noisily for Misty Fiords National
Monument, and salmon-laden commercial fishing boats motor
through Tongass Narrows. In the last decade Ketchikan’s rowdy,
blue-collar heritage of logging and fishing has been softened
though, visitors can still glimpse the rugged frontier spirit that
once permeated this hardscrabble cannery town.
Overnight: Silver Shadow
Day 7 | Juneau
Today, cruise through the waters of southeast Alaska. You
may have an intimate encounter with Humpback or Killer
Whales, Stellar Sea Lions and Dall’s Porpoise. The captain and
experienced naturalists will help you spot and learn about
these incredible creatures throughout the cruise.
Overnight: Silver Shadow
Day 8 | Skagway
Disembark the Silver Shadow today to take an unforgettable
journey aboard the “Scenic Railway of the World” to the White
Pass summit. Experience breathtaking mountain and glacier
panoramas along the way. Skagway itself is an amazingly
preserved artifact from North America’s biggest, most-storied
gold rush.
Overnight: Silver Shadow
Day 9 | Sitka
Today, we discover Sitka, with its eclectic blend of Alaskan
Native, Russian, and American history and its dramatic and
beautiful open-ocean setting. Sitka was home to the Kiksádi
clan of the Tlingit people for centuries prior to the 18th-
century arrival of the Russians under the direction of territorial
governor Alexander Baranof, who believed the region was
ideal for the fur trade.
Join a knowledgeable native guide today to uncover an array
of Sitka’s historic sights, including Castle Hill Mountain, the
Pioneer Home and St Michaels Russian Orthodox Cathedral.
Explore Baranof Island where you will step into the lush
rainforest full of medicinal plant species, and see the Indian
River, renowned as one of Sitka’s many salmon spawning
streams.
Overnight: Silver Shadow
multicultural vitality, and cosmopolitan flair. The attraction
is as much in the range of food choices—the fresh seafood
and local produce are some of North America’s best—as it is
in the museums, shopping opportunities, and beaches, parks,
and gardens. Indeed, the Vancouver package is a delicious
juxtaposition of urban sophistication and on-your-doorstep
wilderness adventure. After a morning at leisure, embark on a
tour of Vancouver city, renowned for both its outdoor recreation
activities and its sophisticated world-class facilities. Tonight,
your Journey Director invites you for a farewell dinner.
Overnight: Fairmont Hotel Vancouver
Day 10 | Hubbard Glacier
Today you will encounter the magnificent Hubbard Glacierone of the most active glaciers within the region. Witness
firsthand the process of ‘galloping’ as sheets of ice separate
themselves from the ice field, followed by the ‘calving’ as the
ice finally crashes into the sea.
Overnight: Silver Shadow
Day 14 | Homebound
After breakfast this morning, a private transfer is arranged to
take you to Vancouver International Airport. Should you wish
to stay longer in Canada, our Journey Planners are happy to
assist you.
Day 11 | Seward - Anchorage
It is hard to believe that a place as beautiful as Seward exists.
Surrounded on all sides by Kenai Fjords National Park,
Chugach National Forest, and Resurrection Bay, Seward offers
all the quaint realities of a small railroad town with the bonus
of jaw-dropping scenery. This little town of fewer than 3,000
citizens was founded in 1903, when survey crews arrived at
the ice-free port and began planning a railroad to the Interior.
Since its inception, Seward has relied heavily on tourism and
commercial fishing. It is also the launching point for excursions
into Kenai Fjords National Park, where it is quite common to
see marine life and calving glaciers. This morning it’s time to
disembark in Seward and farewell the Silver Shadow, before
transferring by train to Anchorage. On arrival, the balance of
the afternoon is at your leisure.
Overnight: Sheraton Anchorage
