Meet at ODOT across from the rest area in Government Camp. This is a great chance to give back to your mountain and your community! It’s actually a lot of fun and this year we will be having our Skiyente Tailgater in Schneente Circle at around noon, be there or be square! Come help clean up our mountain! STAR PARTY Free Star Party at Timberline Lodge. On Saturday, July 13th, join Professor Doug McCarty and a host of amateur astronomers to view the clear night sky through telescopes on the slopes of Mt. Hood in the Lower Salmon parking lot. “An Evening Under the Stars” will begin at 8:30 p.m. Visitors can view the Moon, Red and Blue Giant stars as well as star clusters and star-forming regions in the heart of our Milky Way Galaxy. Children are welcome! Refreshments are available for purchase throughout the night. Please bring your own chair too. INSTALLATION AND YEAR END CELEBRATION JUNE 22, 2013 The Installation and end of year celebration will be held on June 22, 2013 at the Riverview Restaurant in Troutdale, Oregon at 29311 SE Stark Street. This is a great venue right on the Sandy River and it will be a night to remember! Cocktails will begin at 6:00 and dinner at 7:00. Kayaking/Canoeing Nearby smaller lakes where only nonmotorized boating is allowed are great options for family canoeing and kayaking, including Trillium Lake and Frog Lake. The larger lakes such as Clear and Timothy Lakes offer more options for the adventuresome. At the Bonney Butte Hawk Watch raptor migration program (generally operational from the end of August to the end of October), visitors can observe the tallying, banding and recording of data for migrating raptors during their fall migration. This is a great opportunity to see these incredible birds up close. The rough gravel road to Bonney Butte is best driven slowly by high clearance vehicles. www.hawkwatch.org Wildflowers Wildflowers are found in rotational bloom as soon as the snow melts and up to the fall frosts when the fall colors begin. Popular spots for viewing the widest range of wildflowers include Trillium Lake Loop Trail and Summit Meadow and trails above the timberline, especially the Timberline Trail/Pacific Crest Trail east and west of Timberline Lodge, Paradise Park and Elk Meadows (generally in July and August).
