Symphony Math Brochure

Symphony Math® is an online program that is based on
ground breaking cognitive research and developmental
psychology in the acquisition of deep Number
understanding. The program provides a rich, cognitively
designed learning environment as a foundation for your
primary math curriculum (NZC Number Levels 1 to 4), or for
math remediation.
Personalises Math Instruction
The Symphony Math instructional
program provides a unique learning path
for each student, focusing on
foundational number sense to improve
overall math ability.

The dynamic scaffolding in Symphony
Math allows students to learn at their own
pace. The program identifies gaps in each
individual students mathematical
understanding and personalises instruction,
presenting a series of problems in a variety
of application formats that are designed to
fill in those gaps.
The Symphony Math Dashboard provides realtime data to help guide instructional decision
making. School, Group, Class and Individual
reports provide information on students progress.
Struggling students are immediately reported,
and online Guided Practice materials can be
printed or saved for use in small groups or 1:1
interventions.
The program admin enables teachers to turn off
levels or adjust speeds for their exception students
who they would not want to work through all
aspects of the program.
Multiple Ways of Knowing
Learning the Big Ideas in mathematics doesn’t happen by providing a barrage of
multiple choice questions. In Symphony Math, students learn to represent concepts
using a variety of visual models that help extend and reinforce their understanding.
These models are tools that learners will master and use throughout their entire
mathematics career.
Each new concept builds on the previous ones. The result:
a thorough understanding of number that promotes true
mastery.
Each concept is approached in multiple “Ways of
Knowing” which help students make a connection
between numbers and strategies:
