Dear Families,
Here are some activities that you can do with your child to help reinforce the skills we’ll be practicing.
Word Workout

Words to Know: prefixes You could will write two sets of words. Then you could take turns choosing a word and saying it
aloud while the other person finds the matching word in his or her set.

Spelling/Phonics: r-controlled vowels: or, ore, oar Help your child fill in grids with word pairs that cross at one letter.
This week’s phonic sound is the r-controlled vowel as in horn, store, and roar.
Comprehension: problem and solution
You could read stories with your child and then ask your child to identify the problem and the solution in each story.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Outside Recess
Whenever possible, we try to go outside for recess. Students need to bring jackets, gloves, hats, etc. to school. Also
remember that shorts may not be worn from Nov. 1 - March 31. We are outside for 30 minutes and we want to keep our
students healthy.
Absences
Per the school’s policy- if your child is absent, please call the school’s office or email me to report your child’s absence or
send in a note when yor child returns. If a note is not returned, if you do not call the office, or you did not send me an email,
the absence is marked unexcused. Once your child accumulates 10 absences ine one school year, a Doctor note must
accompany each absence in order for it to be excused. Thank you for your help!
